Default 4 way vs 18 way

Alright, are the 18 way seats worth it vs the 4 ways? What do you miss out on besides adjustability?

I prefer 4 ways. Simple to use.

I have to say, I never had 18 way on any of my 911s. My current 992 had them (bought off the lot). They could be the most comfortable seats I have had (on any car - including luxury cars).

However someone pointed out to me in another thread (on the same topic) - that the 4 way are like 68lbs lighter (each) than the 18 way. That is a lot. If you are looking for a track car or more of a weekend fun car, the 4 ways would be fine.

Mine is a Daily Driver sometimes longer trips and errands, etc, so I wanted as much comfort as possible (I also have heated and ventilated seats for that reason), the 18 and 14 ways comes with a few extra things as well (minus the seat adjustments) - the stored settings and reverse mirror dip as well.

Depending on what you are looking for. More or ultimate comfort and adjustability - 18 ways or 14 way, lighter and still comfortable the 4 ways would work. Also, if you are the type that can never get comfortable in a seat, have back problems, etc. The 14 or 18 way are probably the way to go.

18 way was a no brainer option for me, only reason for the 4 way is if you're. a weight savings obsessed type.

This has been discussed in a few other threads. Personal preference. I ordered the S+ 4 ways.

Had 18ways on 991.2 and 4 way sports+ on 992, they’re both supportive+comfortable+look good.

If you care about weight/money get the 4-ways, id be shocked if you regretted it.

If two people are driving the car, 18-ways (and 14-ways) allow saving settings for each driver...seats, steering wheel and mirrors. We had a Cayman that both my wife and I drove, and she would leave the steering wheel and seat back angle set to my preferences, just moving the seat (they were Sport Plus 4-ways) forward a couple of notches. We're both fine with the 4-ways comfort-wise but the 18-ways provide a similar seating profile with additional adjustments (bolsters and lumbar), and both drivers get their optimal settings at the touch of a button. It's a shame though that Porsche doesn't allow saving settings for the passenger seat.

Besides additional adjustments are the seats themselves any different?

Just plain stupid! I can't think of one reason that they left this off a car this expensive.

They don't look different but the internal construction of the 18-ways would be way more complicated to allow for the addition of motors and bladders.

I have heard they add 60lbs. You can guess where the weight comes from.

What's funny is that if you ask a 4 way owner about comfort, they will say that the seats are fantastic... I agree

I think a great reason to buy the 14 or 18 way seats is for the memory feature.... that you do NOT get
with the 4-way seats....

I would be shocked if the 18 way seats weighed 60/68 lbs each more than the 4 way seats. That just defies belief... Both the 4 and the 14/18 way options are power seats with motors, after all- and motors are what account for most of the weight when comparing manual vs powered seats. So with two different power seats (lumping the 14/18 options into one versus the 4 way options) we’re just talking about articulation points and air bladders in terms of differences. I just don’t see those components adding 60 or 68 lbs per seat. Maybe 10-15 lbs? Maybe?

Total is 60lbs. Never said each. 18 ways seats have more motors than 14 way. Lower and upper bolsters are motorized. That's 4 extra motors over 14 way seats. Add fore and aft motors, etc. I'll dig up the specs.

Ordering C2S Cab and getting SS+ partly because I like the manual get seat back or forward fast feature! :-)
