Maybe its worth confirming, but my impression is that stage 1 and stage 2 are the same tune, but stage 2 has added programming to deal with o2 sensor faults due to high flow cats.

When I requested my file there was no option between 1 and 2, I just got the stage 2 file due to presence of sport cats.

Confirmed with ME that the valved JCR center is enough of a derestriction to warrant stage 2.

stage 2 is a different tune with added power, 20-25hp, over stage1 due to adding sport cats or catless downpipes.

Well that’s a new revelation. I’m sure a lot of posters didn’t know that.

Stage 2 is for upgraded link pipes.

If you have stock cats, it is still Stage 1. Even if you have an upgraded center muffler or muffler bypass.

I guess I assumed the additional power was from less restrictive air flow and not from the tune itself... seeing as a lot of these manufacturers claim their exhaust products add 20-25hp over stock w/o tune.

So @M Engineering can you clarify where the gains in Stage 2 are from? Seems like some amount of additional HP due to less restriction from sport cats, while also a more aggressive Stage 2 map running higher boost for additional HP, correct?

FWIW, I've asked the same question a few times hoping for a different answer... mostly because it's hard for me to justify the cost of the high-flow link pipes.

Both Charles at M-Engineering and Jon at Flat Six said it's the link pipes that matter.

The note regarding the Stage 2 tune from @M Engineering wiki is certainly a little ambiguous. (Would be great to see the dyno graphs on this map too, any ETA?)

Due to a certain 3-letter agency, our wording for that is vague. Thanks for understanding.

My conversation was over the phone and I mentioned I had the JCR center exhaust and stock cats and was told Stage 2 was good. if this is incorrect I need to know ASAP @M Engineering

Hi, sounds like there may have been a miscommunication or misunderstanding. Feel free to email into info@m-engineering.us with your VIN and we can send you an updated calibration file. No harm will have been done at this stage as these calibrations are quite close with only minor differences.

Have you had any issues with the tune?
