I have tried 3 times to fill the tank but shuts off at 3/4 tank. I thought it was me so I went to a different station and had the attendant fill it. same thing happened. Shut off at 3/4 tank. Car is a month old. Anyone have this issue?

Some folks reported that their tanks were slow to report full. I haven't experienced that in my car, but it's possible that's the case here.

If yours does not behave in this way, then I would take it in and ask for a warranty repair. Even if this is an observed phenomenon on some cars, it is not operating in a sensible way or the best available way. An instrument is only operating properly if it is accurate.

I have seen the same issue and don't believe its a gauge problem. If I pump slow as I get close to the expected full amount, it gets all the gas in. If I just let it run at full pressure, it will cut off early.

Based upon the fuel gauge, you should have a sense on how much the car is going to take. I only go slow for the last two gallons or such. May save you a few minutes from the heat exposure!

Has anyone been to Service to get this issue looked at? My car is about 2 months old and I have the extended fuel tank. Filled up 3x at different places and always stops short of full by 1/10 or 1/8.

Same issue on my car. Took to dealer and they said everything is normal. I have been filling until it clicks. Then…waiting a bit then slowly adding a bit more. Gets me almost all the way to full. Should not be this complicated though…

Common 992 'feature'. Happens to me as well, just smile and keep pumping.....

I put the nozzle all the way in and then pump normally until it stops automatically. Then pull the nozzle out a couple of inches and pump at 1/2 power. That usually adds a couple more gallons. This is on a pump that doesn't have the vapor recovery head.

This is a known issue with 987 Caymans. The shape of the gas tank allowed an air pocket/bubble to form preventing the tank to fill fully. The work around is to very slowly add gas while pushing down on the front fender every few seconds to release the air pocket. Similar to burping a baby. This worked about 75% of the time, but required more time at the pump. Given the 987 and 997 models shared many components from B pillars forward, there may be additional info in the 997 forum.
