If I lived in CA, I’d have to tag along with you on these drives. Delaware has nice country roads to drive on, but no majestic scenery like this. How nice! I will take a trip to PA and have a great road trip up through the mountains on Rt 44 to New York. I take my cousin up to Cuba NY to the cheese factory there, then we have lunch at a maple syrup farm - pancakes for lunch with sage sausage.

How busy does Angeles Crest get on the weekends? There is a road up to Mt. Palomar down here near San Diego and it can be like a busy track day. Not my cuppa to drive on those days, but kind of fun to watch.

Angeles Crest Highway is 66 miles long and a very beautiful drive, but the weekends can be crazy busy, especially with large groups of motorcyclists. Not your Harley groups so much, but sport bikes. I worked this area for about four years and was continuously rolling to emergency calls of traffic collisions, particularly vehicles over the side. It travels through the San Gabriel Mountains from La Cañada – Flintridge (just outside Pasadena) to State Highway 138 east of Wrightwood. Have driven it many a times, but i would not recommend weekends. Also, prone to rock slides Angeles Crest Highway is widely known as one of the most dangerous roads in Southern California. Experienced drivers say the bottom line is Angeles Crest Highway is a piece of heaven to be enjoyed, but if you test it by not following the rules of the road, it may be your last trip.

I recommend going early in the morning, around 7-8am. It can get busy, but the further you go the better it gets.

Except for the police officer that pulled me over for going through a turn, uh, slightly over the speed limit. When I gave him my insurance card (along with license and registration) and he saw it was USAA he gave me a military break and just wrote me up for a fixit ticket for my non-standard turn signals. Although I almost jacked that up, too, when I said “no, they’re legal, they blink amber” and he repeated, very slowly, “no, they need to be fixed and that’s why I’m giving you a ticket”.

Appreciate your sentiments. Now that you mention it, he did make a comment that he was worried about my safety and that in the previous week (or month?) they had had several fatalities.
Not only does one have to deal with traffic, but there are guys dumping nails and screws on the road cuz, y'know, just to make life interesting for the rest of us.
Epic ZuffenPhilly drive on a perfect day. We drove up to Penn's Peak in Jim Thorpe, PA. It was a two plus hour drive on amazing scenic backroads. 20 P cars, mostly 911s with a couple of very nice 914s and a 718GTS thrown in for good measure. We capped it off with lunch and a 50 mile view. Yep, living the Sunday dream.
