Default For those with a car on order, what kind of coms have you gotten from your dealer?

Seeing what kind of communication ya'll have been getting from your dealers. 992 C4S manual on order. 15k deposit. Production date was supposed to be March 20th. On the 19th I asked my sales rep if there was any anticipated delays with the production due to COVID-19. He responds back saying not yet, haven't heard anything.

Then a few days later I check rennlist and find out Porsche suspended production for two weeks on the 18th =/ One would think salesman would have been made aware. I never really got a clear lock date and it seemed to bounce around. So on the 26th I told him production was suspended on the 18th and asked if he could find out of my car may have gone in ahead of schedule. He says OK will do, and haven't heard anything back.

Pretty irritating honestly and not the level of service I would expect when purchasing a 150k car. Obviously there are going to be delays beyond the dealers control however they should be doing a better job to keep people informed.

Communication is simple and cheap. And rarely done properly.

I've spent my life building businesses and have demanded that my salespeople communicate if they do nothing else. Calling a client to say that there's no information available but that you're continuing to work on the issue and will keep them in the loop gives the client confidence and peace of mind. It's so simple. Think about it . . . How many +$100k cars does even the largest Porsche dealership have on order at any time? 30? Maybe. If I was a sales manager or a GM and had furloughed all my sales people, I would have sent an individual email to every one of those customers. What else do they have to do? Basic communication is Business 101.

Literally zero. You'd think they could send an email when they have $5k of my money and a six figure car on order.. but nah.

Is your dealership open? Are the sales people still employed?

My car was supposed to go into build on March 20th and was completed before the factory shut down, but I suspect it will sit in the Port of Emden for quite some time.

OP, imo the biggest issue here is that you have a salesperson who has not followed-up your conversation of almost two weeks ago. Unacceptable even if the dealership is closed. At a minimum, he should have called to say that he didn't have any information. Time to get in touch with the sales manager or general manager.

Your SA may have been furloughed.

Even on a good day, some SA's are pretty uninformed. I pretty much deal exclusively with the sales manager. My SA never knew anything and it was easier for everyone that way.

You could try calling the sales manager or GM and see if you can get some concrete answers. This is a weird time - I'm usually a hard *** about customer service, but I'd cut them some slack. Who knows what's going on with the retail side of the dealership.

most dealerships in our area let go of their sales people, so probably this is the case in here
also they don't have any information to tell you and they are embarrassed about it , so they are avoiding calling to tell you , that we don't know anything
patience is tough but will be rewarded

I have had notice from my SA, but nothing from Porsche NA directly regarding my build. My build is in their system, but not locked. I am not worried about the deposit and understand it will get sorted out eventually.

As one can imagine, their supply chain is very complex and many parts are just-in-time delivery for production. They don’t have a stockpile of parts, so the entire supply chain has to come back on-line. What a nightmare it must be.

Yeah, I wouldn't expect a lot of communication here. With showrooms closed, a lot of SA's have been furloughed. If you feel the need to talk to someone, as others have noted, definitely talk to the general manager or owner. I would not expect a lot of certainty in what they tell you. When the Porsche does flip the switch again to turn the factory on, it's going to take weeks to start producing cars again due to supply chain issues. I wouldn't be surprised if the restart took a month or more.

It does raise interesting questions with regard to 2020/2021 MY, because all bets are off right now as to when that cut-over takes place. Porsche may just continue 2020 production through year end or cutover to 2021 if they restart especially late. If you aren't locked in and/or don't have a build already production, I would not be surprised if you ended up missing out on a 2020, especially, if they don't restart until July/August. Regardless, due to economic and supply chain issues, the 2020 MY total production will be a small number for a modern 911.

My dealer has laid off all sales people--the GM is running everything, and no so well from my point of view. Apparently my trade value is down 20% while the value of the car I ordered (and that should be at the dealer next week) is still the same as the date of order. I wasn't a math major, but something there seems a bit off.

My SA has maintained contact, two days ago called and emailed. My car is/was not locked before the shutdown, the best guess passed along to me is late July to mid/end of August for mine. I also was informed I have the option to pass on a 20, and wait for a 21.

I’m in no hurry, I’d actually like some more time for a hopeful end of the pandemic, and signs of economic recovery. I’ll know more in the next couple days as my SA is going to provide me with the best information possible concerning my 20 build, and also provide me with the same concerning a 21 build.

I was told the dealership is still functioning, sales and service. Bottom line, I have no complaints with my SA and dealership.

Same here as others are stating. Zero coms from my dealer throughout this process. They are open for business, so it’s not that. I actually asked him a question yesterday, and the Internet sales manager replies back to me with a canned response around, hi, I’d be happy to help you with your search for a new 911. Had to respond back telling the guy already have one on order and I’m questioning it.

are you saying yours wouldn’t build till July or August, or be delivered by then? I had the same question to my SA and they seem to have no idea when they would switch from 20 to 21 models. My order has already been pushed back two months, with my scheduled date of production now June 19th. If this pushes any further I would imagine I will be butting up into 21 production territory

I do not like dealing with sales rep. Sales rep can be unpredictable

When I picked up my 911, he gave me free stuff: like pen, tshirt, key ring, key covers, clear side markers, brochures, rubber floor mats, etc.
