There's no way I'd buy a new Porsche, and then park it in a shared parking lot of an apartment building.

all well in good but that doesnt make the bank advance him the money to get the car ...that would be him straightening out his finances which includes credit worthiness etc in order to be independent and act if he chooses to ...

honest question - if you're pulling ~30k a month including your side hustle - $10k on top of the $20k should be nothing to come up with. what am I missing here?

It was "only" a Boxster, but I did that 20 years ago and not only was it an apartment building, but it was basically outside (covered). I put a cover on it, but it was where I was at the time--all car payment and nothing else :-) I was always a little nervous, but it never got dinged and survived the year or so I spent living there.

Yea, I think I skimmed and saw 12 + 15 and rounded. Nonetheless, 25k per month should mean 15k+ savings post tax easy unless you have insane expenses

Where do you live? 25k/month after taxes in a state like California doesn't go that far. No way you save 15k/month with 25k/month in a place like LA or SF (not sure where OP is)... maybe if you lived absurdly frugal for that income level and your ONLY splurge was a car. Figure $17k/month after taxes. $3,500/month minimum for a decent apartment (not great but ok) alone gets you less than that. At that income level you should be contributing at least $1k/month to a retirement account, ideally more. I guess thats savings but i don't count it like that. I treat retirement account like an expense (I'm 37). If that was my income I'd be comfortable with 800-1k/month in car expense. Play your cards right, maybe spend slightly more than that and end up in a new M5 or E63S. You'll have a blast, certainly won't be skimping on the car front, and will be driving a car that certainly reflects your success (and delivers more performance than you can really use on the street anyways).

I live in the SF bay area. You don't have to live in an expensive apartment. The fact of the matter is coming up with another one time $10k on that income level for the downpayment is nothing unless you're living like a celebrity.

My monthly expense is about 5k, it would be less if I had a rich gf like the OP.

agreed, single no kids, $300K even in SFC you ought to be able to afford a Porsche or re-evaluate your spending habits and life choices

$300k doesn’t go far in CA if you have a stay at home partner, 2 kids in private school and a mortgage. So ... like don’t do that or make peace with your financial priorities.

To the OP, you wrote that you have a rich girlfriend that co signed your M4 loan. Just get her to write a cheque already for the 911. If you can’t get financing, you can’t get financing. If she won’t do it, She doesn’t really love you, so leave her.

I’m quite a bit older than you but figure if I can’t pay cash for the toy, I can’t afford it - so I’ll pay cash. Your girlfriend should do the same.
