992 base 7mt Petition

Dear Porsche,
I’d really love to order a new 992 base, but unfortunately, the 7mt is no longer available in that trim. IMO, a base 992 7mt should be strongly considered, bc the base car makes its power most like an N/A, and would be best suited with a manual. For those of us that appreciate a purer driving experience, it saddens me that I can’t order one. Therefore, I’ve started this thread to hopefully change your mind - since I believe you have a history of listening to your customers.
Sincerely,
manual driver

Agree. I think it's a real mistake to not offer the base with a manual.

There's talk of the manual transmission being totally dead in Europe due to emissions concerns. If that is true, the US Market may be last major market where Porsche homologates manual transmission cars.

I've driven manual cars my entire driving life and previously never owned an automatic of any ilk. Now I really don't see what the fuss is about .....the PDK is great in the 992 . I'd have taken pdk anyway when I was looking last year at 991.2 . Happy to move on

I don't begrudge anyone for still loving manual transmissions, but I no longer maintain the position that they are superior.

I think a Manual base C2 sounds great, but hope it would come with LSD (PTV) option as well. I'm guessing we need to wait for 911T for all of the above (wonder if maybe packaged with new 4.0L from GT4/Spyder also???).

Agreed. I used to be a three pedal snob and drove exclusively manual transmission vehicles for the past 30 years. With that experience, I have embraced the speed of a DCT paddle transmission, because it really helps you get the most out of a turbocharged engine. It's faster and grabbing that paddle fulfills the childhood racecar fantasies. Plus, when you're stuck in traffic, it's nice to flip it to Auto and stop caring.

My post was not meant to stir up a manual vs PDK debate. The PDK is superior, and paddle shifting is a great compromise. However, I just enjoy the analog feeling of a manual car. I also think it’s unfair to force someone that wants a manual into an S, when I highly doubt there is anything to gain regarding production line efficiencies.

That being said, the day that I let our 6MT Holden / Chevy SS go will be a sad one indeed. I may not be able to bring myself to do it, despite the resale bonanza it currently offers. The last of the V8 MT sedans and all that.

I think that is the reason Porsche claims the C2S Manual take rate was higher than the base. If Porsche made PTV available for the base MT car, I think the take rate would have been much higher.

I agree 100% that Porsche should have offered a manual transmission in the base car and I made some similar noise about it in another thread months back.
Porsche, along with the PDK sellouts should be ashamed of themselves for believing this practice is acceptable which should be viewed as nothing but a pathetic ploy to force MT buyers into their more profitable S models or whichever "special" addition they choose to offer one in later on.
