Default Noticed this wire....

Hello,

See attached photo of directly under front of front passenger seat.

Should this wire be crossing across the front of that yellow plastic protector? Seems like the wire should be tucked behind or to the side so that it doesn't get snagged when people sit there....

cheers,
B

Which seat is this? 4 way? 14 way? 18 way?

Sure looks like it's there on purpose. It's plugged in through what's clearly a hole designed for that wire to connect through. Plenty of seats in my cars have had little wires that are exposed under the front seats. I've never had a snagging issue. But I never wear spurs while driving ...

the hole in the top right of the yellow box is for a zip tie.... It seems the wire wraps around the side. Its not very elegant for an exposed area of a $150k vehicle....
Its the 18 way seats.

Cheers,
B

Mine is routed at the top of the yellow piece and out of the way.

I'd advise not unplugging and moving it yourself without first disconnecting the battery. Seat stuff and airbags are very much interconnected -- don't be the guy who sets off his airbag. You don't want something dumb turning into a bigger problem. :P

If you don’t have those skills and it’s bothering you, have the dealer correct it.

ah the photo was misleading -- my bad. you're right that's not cool. i'm sure the dealership can address easily. the person who was on your car on the line that day must have missed their morning coffee.

EDIT: perhaps the others that don't have the exposed wire have different options - yours looks like it has cooled seats.

This is mine...

...no misrouted cable on my 18ways (with heating and cooling)

OCD aside, no passenger is going to be able to kick this with their feet. It’s really under there.

He got a Monday car. Lol. With that being said, not a big deal. Built by humans.

Thanks for the posted photos guys. I will print out and take to the dealer for first service..... Have the speaker rattle over in that passenger door too and a squeak just above and behind drivers door on rough concrete freeways.
Cheers,
B

What is with all these crazy rattle reports?? Squeaks? I mean my 991.1 GTS had a front driver door speaker rattle that was annoying but that's it...are we finding quality flaws with these 992s because it sure seems so.

yeah true. Not really serious that it would in normal situations get snagged, but it looks like it was assembled in China and not Germany.

It's just a small wire going to a connector under the seat. Unplug it, reroute and plug it back in. The car is not going meltdown as a result.

You will be happy that you did so that the world is round again.
