This is a very good point. I've always installed a phone mount in my cars, but my new BMW with wireless CarPlay eliminated that need for me. If Porsche's implementation is as good as BMW's, you may find you don't need the phone in view.

I think the wireless carplay and concoction with the PCM works really well. The wireless charger I got in the central compartment is effectively abandoned.
Safety remains an issue, as some articles are saying that carplay is as dangerous as looking at your phone. I can see that happening.

I slide mine in between the vent and the plastic a/c controls.

Ugh! You're driving. Put the cellphone away. Maybe in the center console space provided for a cellphone or swap out the cup holder with the supplied replacement container. My phone fits very nicely in there, out of the way and I don't forget to take it with me - which is what happens when I put it in to the center console for charging - yes I bought a slim USB inductive charger). Use CarPlay if you need phone functions while driving. Sorry if you have an Android phone. Drives me nuts seeing people using their handset while driving for voice calls, texting, emailing, etc. Again, you are driving a car! An expensive one, that you'll be really pissed if you crash or damage because you were fiddling with your phone.

I don't think it's fair to bucket everyone who wants to mount their phone for viewing/quick-access into the same category. If nothing else, lack of Android Auto means what exactly? That they shouldn't be allowed to use their phone for navigation or music? Even with CarPlay, not every app might be supported. I'm not justifying using it to text or browse the web while driving, but there's many other uses that are no worse than fiddling around with the PCM itself...which is always the irony of these complaints - you could just as easily be distracted by the built-in screen (if not more easily given they are typically less user-friendly and intuitive). What about Uber/DoorDash drivers? Not saying anyone here is likely using their 992 for it, but the point stands - wouldn't it be better if they had a securely mounted phone where they can quickly tap one or two buttons to be on their way?

I don't need to charge the phone and I don't need to see it to use it but I don't like to keep it in my pocket while driving, especially on long trips. The console is okay but I tend to forget it when I leave the car. So, I want a mount where the phone is visible and I won't forget it. That's why I would like a mount for the phone,

With Bluetooth every phone is supported, for music, and phone....

I tried the Belkin and didn't like it - too big and was white. I have this on order:

Perhaps, but worse case the phone should be higher up so you're eyes aren't completely off the road. I still argue that you're driving an expensive car, do that and stop fiddling with the phone, PCM, etc. Focus.

I just ordered ProClip for iPhone because:

1) Audio quality over bluetooth is terrible
2) Porsche PCM/Apple Carplay functionality for Amazon Music is not as good as directly from the phone

The Burmester sounds great with the Iphone plugged in, with Amazon Music HD or Ultra HD.

I just set the phone on my lap, forget it’s there when I get out then have to buy a new phone or screen after it hits the ground...
