I leave this in the armrest, fits nicely and it's quite thin.
Eventually I'll hack the plastic part by the nubbin and setup an induction coil underneath it for a more seamless wireless charging (the part is hollow with lots of room).
Most of the time, I just keep the phone in my pocket. The battery life of the 11 Pro is good enough that I don't need to have it plugged in or charging to use with wireless CarPlay. I only put it under the armrest for longer trips and/or when it needs to get charged up.
Do you have an non-Apple phone? Is there something that you need the screen for?
When it comes to phone mounts, I like the RAM stuff, because their products are extremely rugged and not some flimsy nonsense. It's clear that they offer products for Police and First Responders. My X-Grip windshield mount has been across the entire country, including a 997 up/down the PCH. Great stuff. https://www.rammount.com/consumer/de...s/phone-mounts
They're stuff isn't cheap, because the stuff doesn't feel cheap.
I'll second the RAM stuff in general and the X-Grip in particular. I've used them on my motorcycles with nary a problem.
Still blown away there is wireless CarPlay but not wireless charging. I’ll do what others have and pick up a charger from amazon to fit in the center console. If you’re interested in what the center console looks like...
My SA said that there is not bluetooth from an iPhone to the car- I guess he was wrong?
For wireless CarPlay, the connection is BT and WiFi. The BT is "occupied" with it and not used in the same fashion as a regular connection (calls, music and text only).
You can connect your phone, Android or iOS, via BT only and have the above.
i installed this https://www.proclipusa.com/product/855569-console-mount in my new 992 and its great. I ran the charging cable under the console and up the back side. it is wireless charging and i can see my phone. I was forgetting my phone when it was away in the console and i got tired of having to go back to the car to retrieve it. Now i can see my phone, it charges wirelessly and it is secured while driving. The SA and sales people at Porsche loved the install and look. this just shows the mount. you then buy the phone holder and it screws to this mount.
I don’t understand this thread. If you have an iPhone, doesn’t CarPlay give you everything you need from your phone up on the display? If I needed charging while driving I think I’d just put the phone on a charging plate under the armrest. Otherwise, I’d just leave it in my pocket. It’s seems to me mounting the phone below line of sight to the road is a bit distracting.
I got a very thin wireless charger from amazon, fitted nicely there.
Eventually I'll sort a coil under that fingerprint magnet by the gear lever as my wireless charging point. That acrylic part comes out very easy and it's hollow underneath. Would be cooler if I could make the Cayenne part fit and work instead of all that lost real estate.
I’ve been curious about how to remove those panels next to the gear lever. Would you be able to describe or provide pics of how you removed them?
Before spending a nickel on phone holders/mounts, try just using the PCM screen as your i-phone. It becomes your i-phone and you can still see the road
in lieu of looking at your phone...
