Hasn't 2021 always been the smart money bet for the release of the 992 GT3?
Just like with the 991 GT3, the 992 GT3 will most likely be announced at the Geneva autoshow in March 2021, with deliveries sometime in the summer/fall for ROW and US, respectively.
Probably not that late. The 991 GT3 was announced 2 years after the launch of the 991 generation (Geneva 2011), so if Porsche sticks to the same schedule, then we will get the GT3 in LA 2020.
That said, Porsche seems to have pulled in the schedules for the 992:
The 991 Cab was launched 8 months (LA 2011) after initial release, while the 992 Cab was launched 3 months after.
The 991 Turbo was launched 2 years+ (May 2013) after initial release, while the 992 Turbo will be launched in under 1.5 years (Jan-March 2020).
At this point in the 991 lifecycle (1 year), Porsche had released the Base and S in Coupe and Cab variants, while we now have a Base, 4, S, and 4S in Coupe and Cab variants, and with Turbos soft-launched as a "prototype preview."
Thanks for the clarification! I would hate to wait all that time thinking I’m getting one and get screwed. I realize I still could, but I do have a build sheet for a presumed model year 2021, so I think I’m good. I asked around to several dealers until I found this. Others wanted a deposit for no guarantee and I am on a waiting list at another dealer with no deposit.
How do you have a build sheet for a car that can't be configured yet?
Op congrats on the GT3 step. Can't wait to see how the specs come through. With the TTS jumping over 600hp the GT3 should get a nice bump in hp and some nice upgrades.

I should revise this.
The 992 GT3 will be unveiled at the 2020 Geneva Autoshow in March next year, with deliveries sometime in the summer/fall of 2020 for ROW and US, respectively. As before the 992 GT3 will be a 2021 model year vehicle.

Yeah, this is probably more reasonable. The Turbo might just be launched via press release + press "first drive" reviews in January / February, then they can launch the GT3 at Geneva.
I was assuming it would be a 2021 Model Year announced in Spring of 2020. Let's hope.
This is what I was assuming as well and actually asked the person ("I had heard that it would be announced in spring of 2020"). He responded by indicating "no, not until 2021." Again, wires could have crossed, he may have misheard my question, or he could just be wrong.
Regardless, he indicated that he had recently seen the GT3 touring at an event in Europe and said that it looked "beautiful."

Just a story for you: I "walked in off the street" to my local Audi dealer in 2006, never having bought an Audi before, and put down a $1000 deposit for what I was lead to believe would be one of their first R8's. 2007 and most of 2008 went by with their "preferred customers" getting all of their limited allocation. When I complained I was simply offered my deposit back. Late 2008 I'm finally called to spec a MY 2009 and days later later the market crashes and my business almost goes under. Didn't get my R8 for another 7 years!

Has this been confirmed that the 992 GT3 is coming in 2021? Looks like the Turbo is mid to late 2020, so possibly GT3 in 2021?

The US will probably see its first deliveries of a 992 GT3 sometime in the Fall of 2020.
I am on four different lists for a GT4. And I am out about 6K of refundable deposits. One dealer said his list was 7, another that they were at 50, a few ignored my question when I asked. Many have been very upfront that as a 1st time Porsche buyer, who is not local to the dealership, I’d be very low on any list, and that they had priority customers who would come first. Entirely understandable. The dealers that were selling at MSRP were very forthright about that. One dealership clearly said they would have a 7,500-10,000 markup. Most again ignored my question.
Nobody promised, and I’m well aware, that I am not guaranteed anything. Multiple dealerships did want a Porsche code, so I assume they need some basic prelim build info for their internal system.
Good luck to you. I would suggest if you really want this car, look around for another dealer or two as a backup plan.
