My dealer is saying it is a software issue. 9/13 original delivery date, and the car was at the port of Houston approx on that date. Each week I hear "next week". Today there was supposed to be some big conference call on the issue - guess what I heard after the conference call? "Next week."
Is my assumption correct that the conference call was within the Porsche organization and did not involve dealers?? If this is the case, dealers are not in possession of facts about the continued delays.
This situation suggests that CARB approval is conditional and only for cars built after some production date and that prior production cars need some update to be released??
If the emissions certification requires newer software and that’s the reason for the hold, then why not just clearly explain that to customers rather than leaving them confused. I can understand the logistics of updating many cars at the port could take a while. I’m reasonable, and I never expected a firm delivery date when I ordered in January, but people seem to be getting dragged along uninformed and confused. My car is at the dealer and has been there for three week, I am told the issue is the battery, The conflicting information leaves me a bit unsure, and I don’t entirely trust the estimates for resolving it.
What is your production date? I also ordered in January and my production was first week of April.
I have no new information regarding cars held at port, but I did find out the battery issue is only impacting Canadian cars. Apparently, the battery is a different part to withstand cold weather. Ironically , there are many places in the states that are much colder than the west coast of Canada.
It is now October 4. This is said to be day software is updated on the cars held in ports and that they are released for transport. Any sign of action?

Mine was approved for release this morning. Hope yours comes soon.
My 992 Carrera 4S ordered at a LA dealership in Dec 2018, built in late April/early May 2019, arrived at the San Diego port in June 2019 was released for transport today. My dealer says I will receive the car probably by the end of next week, or by the week after that at the latest.
