US SD Bumperettes - remove and repair, or live with?

A clear pic of the America's SD rear bumper. Unlike std rear, the cutout is definitely the same as Euro cars, but with body-color bumperettes framing the license plate. Looks easy enough to remove them and repair the panel...or just live with them? Guessing a dark color disguises them pretty well, a light color (white or chalk - that would be me), not so much. Opinions?

Looks like a 981 GT4, more of a license plate bracket than a bumperette that protrudes further. I don’t think it will distract when there is a license plate mounted. Going to leave mine alone.

Pretty disappointed with this. Would've expected them to have a US specific rear bumper for our license plates as they did for the 991's. I can see it now, someone at VW's accounting dept. decided that bumperettes would be a good fix and save a couple bucks... on a 140k+ car, yay!

That looks terrible.

I have to say that the standard bumper plastic looks considerably better on the 992.

As starter of the thread I was really concerned about the look. After taking delivery, and putting the plate on, the little bumpers mostly fade away as they’re almost flush with the plate/frame depth and they’re body color. Not as clean as a specific bumper, but not nearly as bad as feared.

Seeing the comparisons. It’ll rest assure all those who opted for SD front fascia and kept the standard rear

I guess it’s all in the eye of the beholder...if starting over I still like the less pudgy rear and body color bumperettes of the SD, but, on the other hand, the non-SD front looks more original, distinctive and pure to me. My SD front looks like a generic Panarreraman. Unfortunately it’s either the front or both at this point.

SD rear would be better if it didn’t have the different colors at the bottom layer. Too busy on an already busy rear end with the brake light and rear light bar. Still better than standard IMO. I think the SD front completes the front and looks great. I don’t think it looks Panemera-ish. The rear looks Panemera-ish.
