I’ve ordered this Aluminum shifter option on my C2S build. I agree it’s overpriced at $750, but I still opted to add it, as I feel it’s definitely an improvement over the basic “nubbin”.

Having been reading/watching reviews over the last months and hearing about the dreadful nubbin.

Finally went for a test drive this morning. First thing I did was looked down at the nubbin whilst sitting in the car.

i have to be honest and say I do not know what all the fuss is about. It wasn’t too bad and not really a big deal to me.

It was the same with the 981/991 cars. You could get a really nice-looking PDK shifter in aluminum for about the same price. Very low take rate. I've never regretted the brushed aluminum hardware in my interior, but I also don't think I've seen another one of those aluminum PDK shifters besides the one in my car.

The problem in this case, IMO, is that the shifter is still non-functional. I don't mind paying for nicer hardware, but if it's not purely cosmetic, it needs to work. A shifter should not be purely cosmetic. It should, you know, shift gears. It doesn't need to be as big as the old PDK shifters but it should be large enough to provide good ergonomics.

Nubbin is horrible. Hoping Porsche doesn’t put that in the GT cars and has some kind of hand shifter option like the 991

Quarter mile - You will be happy to know that spy shots of the PDK 992 GT3 mule show it with a 991-style PDK gear shifter.

Is the nubbin really a "shifter" or more of a drive mode selector? Does not matter to me as I am waiting for the MT before locking my order for the C2S.

It is a drive mode selector like the one on the 918 and most modern supercars. The actual gear shifting for those who believe they are better at it than the cars computer - or more likely who just want the fun of working the tranny by hand - is done via the steering wheel paddles.

It is not a shifter unless there is a 3rd pedal.
