Question Weight of the glass or steel sunroofs?

I'm wandering about what could be the added weight of the optional steel or glass sunroofs vs stock aluminum roof.

Weight more the glass or the steel sunroof?

Is the added weight and the changed CoG noticeable on street driving?

On 991 glass weighs more than steel. Sunroof is a heavy option regardless.

I don’t care. The glass roof is awesome and wouldn’t want it any other way. The weight of the roof isn’t going to affect a faster lap time or my concern for a faster lap time. I’m not a good enough driver that the 40lb difference will substantively matter to either.

Where are the numbers? I would like to know the weight of the carbon roof too - just because I like the look!

Agree, and at the worst possible location right at the very top. If I have a choice, I would select sunroof delete, but that option is only available ordering a new car.

There is no such thing as "sunroof delete". Its an option. I can't imagine anyone here would be able to notice COG/balance difference between a car with a sunroof and a car without.
As far as glass roof being for hairdressers cars and not sports cars, are all Cabs (new and very old) not sports cars? Miata, TR6, Corvettes etc etc...they aren't sports cars? OP asked what the weight difference was.

Lets not insult all the hairdressers. I'm sure some of them don't have any sunroofs!

Meh. Great drivers maximize the potential of whatever vehicle they're driving. Crappy drivers don't.

GT3, GT3RS, GT2RS don't have sunroof options because they're intended to be tracked with some regularity. All the others are intended to be some form of compromise between track and roads.

I bought a GTS w/a glass sunroof and 18-way seats because at least 90% of the time I'll spend in the car will be on roads enjoying a spirited but relatively comfortable drive. If and when I decide to spend more time at a track, I'll get a GT3 or GT3RS w/nothing but performance options and without any consideration of comfort.

However, in the interests of full disclosure, I admit that I have been cutting my own hair for about 25 years now.

Hahaha.

I like my steel sunroof, but I would have preferred no sunroof. More headroom, less weight. The glass sunroof looks ok, but too heavy. What I'm wondering is how much extra weight the glass has over the steel....

IIRC the 991/992 glass roof is made from polycarbonate and not the heavier glass..The 991/992 roof is modular with no extra bracing required if a sunroof is added..The glass roof has extra motors to operate the sun screen..My guess is that the polycarbonate roof weighs nearlytwice as much as the steel sunroof..Purely guesswork i'd say glass roof adds 45lbs and steel sunroof adds 25lbs.

Does the first part of that response include hanging an engine off the back end so we can have rear seats?

Is there consensus as to how much weight glass roof adds vs regular sunroof vs standard roof?
