Default Manual Trans - Cost & Specs

Since the configurator now shows the PDK as standard included in the price, what do you think will happen when the 7MT comes out?

Lower Base price and make PDK an option - fair.
Keep Base price and make PDK an option - big jerk move!
Keep Base price and make Manual a no-cost option - smaller jerk move
Keep Base price and make Manual a delete / negative option.

Wonder how it'll play out?

Also, Porsche, for the love of God, could you please drop the ratios in gears 1-4? You have 7, you can still have multiple overdrive gears. Let me shift the damn car! Anyone heard anything on this? And with the PDK now going to 8 speeds, and the old 7 speed manual based on the 7 speed PDK, will Porsche stick with an evolution of that transmission or something else?

They'll probably add the manual as a no-cost option with PDK being the default.

PDK price is forever sunk into the standard vehicle now. Manual will be zero free add-on, you don't get a cent of saving.

Always expect a business to pass costs on to you, the customer, and you will never be surprised.

According to some journalist videos from yesterday, 992 Carrera S will be PDK only, hence the delay of MT. Manual will be possible for the base or GT (dont know abt GTS).
That's something new isn't'. If you want a stick you have to wait for a base now, settle with less power or get into GT?

Wonder what the thinking behind that could be...? Sure, one less powertrain variant to calibrate and homologate, but take rate should be healthy enough to cover those costs?

This is what had been stated. This is 100% correct.

MT could cost more as it appear the console is designed for a PDK. Certainly hints that future cars will drop the MT as the console is not designed ergonomically to accommodate a MT. Even in the 991 some of the controls are not easy to reach with MT.

That is another ergonomic argument for a smaller PDK shifter, would of been OK with just a button, but then designers probably intervene with horrendous norelco shifter but got the homogenized looks with 5 top toggles, 3 ac toggles and dummy left ignition key, all in one weird style.
Plus shifter free central console would of been too much flat for their liking. I wonder why there are no other photos of an actual MT rather then generic one used on earlier mules. Guess it will be the surprise for announcement of the base model later.

At 15:15 this guy is saying that only the base Carrera will get a manual option. The S will remain PDK only. Can anyone confirm this?

BS. transmission options will not be limited on regular carrera models (base, S, GTS), only on true GT cars and Turbo 911s.

I very distinctly heard the Porsche guy at the reveal state that a MT will follow in a few months. He didn't say for the base, just that the MT is coming. Why would he say that without caveats while presenting the S/4S if it wouldn't be available across the line?
