Hate the 992??! OFFICIAL VENTING THREAD # Ultimate bashing allowed. Step in the ring.

I think the 992 will sell well, so far it has been received with much less criticism compared to the 991 reception. Judging by the hate tread count, the 991 had way more hate topics. People said it was no longer a 911, some even called it a Lexus. There were other things said about 991 that i can't repeat for fear of getting banned. Maybe the 992 hate threads will catch up with 991 when actual test drives begin.

Another thing to my eye that messes up the rear end is the way the rear window and intake air vent have become one by joining them with the circled black plastic bit. I much prefer the separation between the window and air vent on the 991.2 vs this. Definitely not helping the look...

Ordered my 2018 991.2 (took delivery June 2018) thinking I had to get the order in to avoid being stuck with a digital dash and god knows what of the up coming 992. Another prime concern was would the manual transmission be dropped. Anyway I've already voiced some of my dislikes of the 992 in previous posts. If I may be permitted to go OT a little, I was wondering if anyone here knows if there are any changes between the 2018 991.2 and the 2019 991.2? The only thing I know of that distinguishes the 2017 991.2 from the 2018 991.2 is the elimination of the headlight washers. Thanks!
The side profile is basically the same, with a slightly smaller greenhouse (not better or worse, as a decent greenhouse is a 911 trademark, so I slightly prefer the 991 here), and the front I prefer the 991.
Honestly, personally, I'd choose 992 over 991.2 without question, price not being a factor of course. The two things that will keep me most content with having my 991.1 over a 992 is the N/A engine, and after that the Aqua Blue. Things like the stupid nubbin and lame digital-gauges emulating the iconic physical gauges, and the somewhat clunky front are just icings on the cake.

I maintain that the rear of the 992 looks better than the 991 rear. I know it's more fussy (is it? The front is the fussy part, the rear is pretty cohesive), and I don't like how they made the rear window a more generic large/square shape, instead of the classic "pinched down" look the 991 maintains. But overall, it just looks somehow cleaner.

K-A - for once, I disagree with you. That 991.2 rear looks way better to me than the 992. The squared off window on the 992 vs the tapered window on the 991.2 makes a huge overall visual difference to my eyes. Likewise, I prefer the separation of the grill from the window, as mentioned earlier. Those two lines on either side of the rear window that taper toward the midline are such a classic 911 design feature, one that I miss on the 992. I also prefer the exhaust on the 991.2 and the license plate position. I like the Tron light bar on the 992 but that is the only rear improvement for me over the 991.2.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love all 991 rears, but the rear for some odd reason on the 992 I'm not hating as much as my design tastes tell me I should (i.e, I agree with you on every point.... the non tapered window gives it a generic look, and it looks even bigger and longer since it goes straight into the vents, and how much blank space there is on the bulbous rear bumper middle portion, etc. etc. I also hate fake tailpipes, as it makes rears look super cheap to me).
