Geez, this thread alone rubs people the wrong way. It's just a discussion. Was actually started as a joke from those who follow here. Was meant to keep all this stuff out of the 992 SPY SHOT thread which I started by the way!!
From a non performance view of this car, it's a mess in many ways design wise.
The car will deliver handling and 0-60. That's not a doubt.
I think many here like to dig in a bit deeper for a more critical look at it. I think many are more design orientated and appreciate good design.

Guess you should have given it another name.

I can't understand why some one can hate the design of the 992 so much but love the 991. The first time i saw the 992 i could barely tell the difference! Saying the 992 is ugly is like saying any general 911 is ugly. The 992 has basically the same shape, round headlights, horizontal tail lights as some previous models etc. I like the 992 overall.

KTU - what might be subtle differences to you may not be so subtle to others. The 991 and 992 share many characteristics but I would never mistake a 991 for a 992, either on the interior or exterior.

I see your point, i'm saying Porsche hasn't made any drastic changes in the design language from the 991. To me drastic is inserting round Corvette styled tail lamps, some see it different, fine. The interior on the other hand is where the design really differs.

What I've learned on Rennlist, there are VERY DIFFERENT types of people here and their likes/dislikes.
Some think the cars are too loud, not loud enough, too this and not enough of that, etc .... A VERY diverse group here.

Read this quote from another thread:
"The 992 is the first “corporate” 911 where integration with the rest of the brand being a major goal, and a great deal of marketing effort to state otherwise."
Very well put djcxxx ....
I would rephrase:
"The 992 is the first 911 to be homogenized with other Porsche models, and with a great deal of marketing propaganda to convince buyers otherwise"
The above is my disappointment along with many design flaws and many cost cutting measures which get marketed under the guise of smart design.
After all, it's everyone's job at Porsche to promote any new model regardless of what they think of it or not. They're trying to sell cars to buyers!! It's up to saavy enthusiasts and buyers to filter through the reality and whether a car appeals enough to them to part ways with $150K. It's a choice.
Go check out the car, drive it, and check out the finishes and decide for yourself. Don't rely on me or any YouTube reviewers who get free trips around the world to report on cars "objectively". It's your $$, so with it as you please.
Don't know what else there is to say from my end. That's my opinion.

exterior-
1. lost most of the curves of the 991 front end, now more square and reminds me of the beetle, sports design is better, but not better imo than the 991
2. rear end looks completely unfamiliar to me for a 911, it looks like a panamera coupe, and I wish Porsche used more of the 911 as the leading edge of P car design vs follow panamera, cayenne, new macan etc.
3. clamshell spoiler makes the rear end look like pac man vs a sports car deployed.
4. car is now larger and bloated looking overall, I was thinking when I test drove the 991 how perfect the size was, and I am disappointed new one is larger and heavier, almost as heavy as my f8x m3 sedan.
5. door handles look so gimmicky and trendy, why is Porsche copying Tesla?
interior-
1. nubbin center shifter is not a shifter at all and looks small compared to the huge center blank plastic console.
2. lots of plastic used, and glossy, would drive my ocd nuts
3. instrument cluster is all digital, but looks very wide and will not age well imo, I dislike the trend of all digital displays for sports cars.
I could go on and on, but I understand why people would like the 992, I just cannot see myself paying 150k for this design.

After all the both have four wheels!
Of course in general sense look similar to some average guy on the street.
The enthusiast has a more critical eye.
As for the weight, yeah there's always some counter talking point to dismiss it. Just like there's a talking point to try and explain and spin everything. The smart ones see through the BS.

love the door handles, makes for a smooth appearance...
shifter is ridiculous from an aesthetic POV, paddles anyway on the track...(the shifter foretells an EV 911, IMO)
I really want to see the interior in person.

Chris Harris did a review for Top Gear - its on YouTube as did a guy called JWW.
I couldn't escape the feeling he was looking for things to say.
