Default News on 2025 992.2

My dealer informed me that there will be a new (992.2) base model and GTS for 2025. There will not be a new Turbo/Turbo S or S for 2025. I am very surprised given all the online info on the new Turbo/Turbo S.

That’s normal I think. They always introduced the refreshed version of the regular 911 first and then the following year the turbo comes out.

I got the same information from my dealer, here, in Abu Dhabi. He didn't mention GTS availability for 2025, which usually comes after. But not too long to wait till the official launch.

Interesting as a friend was told he has a 2025 allocation for a TTS build and my dealer also indicated that I was on the short list (havn't officially gotten slot) for a 2025 build.

EDIT, after reading this again, seems you are indicating that the TTS will be unchanged for 2025 so not a .2?

I believe the .2 TTS might be ‘26.

Will be interesting to see what the hybrid version of the .2 TTS will bring considering the "normal" 911 just out lapped a 992.1 TTS by just a bit.

have been told by my dealer that the .2 TTS will be a 2026 model. Anyway production might start in a July 2025 for model year 2026

Can’t really compare laps done by factory drivers and laps done in Auto Motor & Sport Supertests, but that hybrid is impressive nonetheless.

Its actually not THAT impressive. 8 seconds in a 7:17 lap is around 1.15 seconds per 1 minute lap. Thats easily achievable with better aero (the new car had a big wing and downforce vs older car), wider tires (even 10mm will make a big difference), suspension tweaks and a slight bump in power. The advantage of nurburgring is its length can provide a sense of huge performance increase when in reality the increase in day to day is marginal. When Porsche moved the GT3 time from 7:20 to 6:56 without adding any more power was when the improvement in performance was significant. So significant that the new car drives like a completely different car.

The new car probably weighs 200-250 lbs more and with that factored in, it has around 6-6.5% power increase. That in conjunction with wing, tires, suspension, etc can easily improve the lap time by 1-1.5 seconds per 1 minute of lap.

Also the price increase with new TTS will probably be eye watering. I have heard from several different people that facelift will carry a 10-12% premium for lower trims. Even if same 12% carries over to TTS, it means now an easily $300k+ for a TTS.

The 991.2 GT3 did 7:12.7 on PSC2 tires while the 992 GT3 did 6:55.3 on PSC2R. That's ~2.5sec/min lap and ~1.0sec/min are from the PSC2R alone. Further, that's leaping from one chassis gen to the next, so for sure it will drive differently. Going from .1 to .2 is usually mainly about new powertrains with little tweaks here and there. Also, based on what I've read so far, I do not expect the weight to go up by as much as you state.

That's a really good question.

It would be interesting to see them keep the non-S ICE while the S is a hybrid.

Even more interesting is that a non-S 992.2 could easily be modified with the larger Pure Turbo's to continue to be a really fun ICE platform.

Hadn't thought of this but hope they keep the non-S ICE. Thanks for posting the Q.
