GT3RS Allocation Thread

Gotcha.
I had no clue dealers bought them on spec. Assumed all were pre-ordered by customers.
The one at Marin was calling my name today while I drove by https://www.porschemarin.com/used-Mi...AF2A9XRS272083

The track discussion is interesting in here. I would not call anyone who doesn't track their 3RS a poser but I think you owe it to yourself to try it, whether in your own 3RS or at a PEC with an instructor. This notion that you have to push yourself to your own limits to experience the car on track is just nonsense. The guys who are damaging/crashing their cars on track 99.9% of the time are pushing beyond their limits. An accident on the road is far more common and more likely than one on the track. After experiencing your GT3/RS on the track you will be a better pilot on the road. You will be more comfortable with the car at pace or near a limit (swerving to avoid an accident, hitting an oily surface on an on-ramp turn, etc). Highly, highly recommend at least 1 track visit for a variety of reasons. First and foremost because it's an absolute blast and your respect for the car will be at an all time high.

If you take your Porsche GT car only to C&C, you're a poser.
If you never track your Porsche GT car, but are a good driver (i.e., capable of driving at a good pace on track) and drive the car vigorously on the street, you're not necessarily a poser, but are not using the car for its intended purpose.
If you track your Porsche GT car, you're using the car for it's intended purpose, but could still be a poser in various settings, including the track.
It's ok to be poser. We're all posers to some degree in some settings. Subconsciously, we all care about status (and self-esteem) and try to achieve it in one way or another ("I'm smart" "I'm fit" "I look good" "I'm rich" "I have a nice house" "I got a car that's hard to get" "I drive a sports car" "I'm fast on track" "I'm a nice person" "I'm humble" "People like me" etc.).

Whether we want to acknowledge it but the car you drive in many ways defines you. Its why we buy Porsche’s. The term poser is definitely meant to be a derogatory.. It implies deception and falseness. I don't find it appropriate to use on a Porsche enthusiast blog. End of rant.

I happen to be at the track today. Two 992 RS here. One of the owners I talked to only sparingly drives it on the track because he’s focusing on spec Boxster W2W. Says he is more careful (unsurprisingly) due to the cost of the car.
Anyway, re taking offense to the poseur term. sticks and stones.

Assuming your use of the word “poser” is meant to be derogatory, has it occurred to you many of us posers have tracked cars in the past and now have opted not to do so for variety of reasons including too many wannabe Jorg Bergmeister tracking cars today? Does that mean we enjoy our cars any less?

My god man, stop being so easily offended.

Truer words have never been said, can you imagine working so darn hard to get where you are and your life is dictated by people's opinion of you? No one's identity should be that frail (successful or not). So weird that some human dictates how you should be perceived. Weird.

Poser guys who don't drive on the track will move on to the new lambo and 750s and such
track guys will still want GT3RS especially while they're under warranty. the porsche CPO 6 yr coverage means the 23 and 24 RS will still be over msrp for another 3-5 years IMO.
the 992 3RS is so gnarly on track that you literally need a cup car to be faster. the 765LT are coming out of warranty and are going to drop below 400 then below 350. that's the only other car (besides a viper ACRx) that can claim to be as track capable.

wow some of you guys really missed the part in bold here, and it showed up as an L
really funny I have to make 'author's notes' for you, but here we go:
I'm being very clear that the GT3RS - as a road only car- is not that much different than a GT3. And in that case, it's not something that reveals itself at legal speed limits. It has a wing that *checks notes* you literally do not need on the street at legal speeds. It does not 'feel' fast like a Revuelto or 750S. Hence, guys are selling their GT3s and getting 750's. They're selling because those cars are faster feeling. People who put bodykits on their 911 Turbos or GTRs are a completely different demographic than the guy at COTA trying to break 2:15 in a GT3.
Cars like a GT3 Touring make more sense as a road car than a GT3RS. I get why there is an appeal there- especially with the cool interiors and manual transmission you can get on a Touring...
But be honest- if you want something just because of how it looks (meaning gigantic wing) or 'have to get the newest greatest thing' then you're not focused on anything about the driving experience...it's just trying to be the first guy with it in your social circle, or keep up with the neighbor etc.
IS THERE A WORD FOR THAT?
