Towed off track yesterday...

2 weeks is indeed a fast turn around. I'm hoping for the best but expecting 6-8 weeks at a min but who knows. I won't complain if they turn around quicker!

That's great news. Any mention at all about being on track? Was that not an issue or did they make it seem like they're doing you a favor?

Great news! Hopefully speedy return to track.

Didn't care about being on track. The service manager was like 'we have customers that beat on these all day long at track with no issues'. So that was reassuring to me that I'm driving it like they expect it to be driven. Their attitude was not that of doing me a favour. I felt more like 'We got you and we're doing what we can to figure this all out' in a reassuring way.

A few more details. Oil and oil filter were examined. No metal present.
New engine to arrive ~2nd week of August so about a month from now + 1 week for install and get it running.
I havea track day already (prior to failure) booked on August 17th. Might be cutting it close to get it back and get some miles on it before then but maybe things will be ahead of schedule.

Mine has been in the shop for a few weeks now. Bore inspection happening etc, for misfires in same cylinder...
I'm beginning to think my car will also need an engine replacement.
I may get chastised for this but what do you think happens to the value with a warranty engine replacement? I'll be trading mine for an RS likely anyway, but I do wonder.

Personally I don't think the engine replacement matters. If anything, the new buyer is getting an engine with less mileage so why not be happy about that?

Ah...sorry to hear that. Hopefully they either find out what the issue is or just make the decision on a replacement so you can move forward!

I made them give me a loaner in hopes to light a fire under their rear ends. Maybe they'll move quicker 😂

If people actually put some miles on these cars (I know some do...) We'd have even better information.
I'm not saying there's some major engine issue with this generation, but if there was, we gotta drive to find them.
I have 3500 miles and my dealership techs tell me that most of the Porsche customers basically have miles they drive to their dealership and almost nothing else.
These aren't Ferrari cars and we should pride ourselves on driving them!! I know some of the rennlist guys do drive a lot of miles so I appreciate that.

I really was hoping that the current version which is the motor sport engine from the cup car was battle tested and would be pretty bulletproof? Maybe it is in and these are just anomalies? Hope so, Nobody wants to repeat of the 991.1 Gt3. Carl

Maybe the new suppliers that they had to switch to due to Russian restrictions have quality issues? There were no engine issues in the early cars.
