I know. I was of two minds about starting this thread since I am obviously not trying to support flippers… but the market is what it is and since we keep mentioning cars for sale in various threads, I figured this one would help streamline some posts.

This one looks to be going through the auction with an estimated value of 276k.

Curious what that auction car will go for. It’s PTS so should fetch more than 276k. I’m thinking about selling mine and I was thinking 275k but without pts.

I'm curious why a GT3 would be at auction. Seems like either someone is leaving money on the table or there's a story. In my experience dealers generally send cars to auction they don't want to try to sell themselves.

ADM: $50,000
Sales Tax: $19,743
Auction Fee: $99
Breakeven: $283,082
Of course this doesn't include storage, insurance, yadda, yadda, yadda. Good news is the owner is already in the money on the auction and good on him for bailing before the market corrects. Now about the buyer...

It's time to bail if one is the type to bail. A reasonable alternative approach is to ignore the market and drive the car. Same approach to the market itself - stop checking prices and know that over the long haul ownership is good.

I read the Peggy Noonan article in WSJ this weekend about use of tactical nuclear weapons. Hadn't been on my radar. Provides a very real example of how bad this market could get on top. You could see European demand being wiped out for several years. At least Xi opened the spigot on Chinese tech in advance of the National Congress later this year, which means Chinese demand will tick up but then they will get hammered in 2023.
People forget the late aughts. My financial advisor advised me to buy guns and ammo because he was worried about people running amok in the streets.
We might be back to normal in 2023/2024 on porsches with MSRPs and DEpreciation.
If you are thinking of flipping, if you aint first, you are last.
