GT3 header on Soul website. (That looks very different than what I saw. There is about 3-4" deeper starting point for the material that's in there on the RS header I saw on a bench for a car here in Austin. Hard to say if it's OPF or catalytic matrix.
so the question is, why does Soul have the material in there as well? If it’s few inches further back, then logically it sounds like the filter is somehow needed, perhaps complete removal makes car too loud?

The material in the SOUL header is the catalytic converter.... LOL
Knock the OPF out of the stock GT3 manifold and you'll see the exact same thing behind it.
