If top speed comes down to "only" 186mph, I'm wondering if it has a shorter final drive than the normal GT3/GT3T manual cars.

It seems like you missed some key upgrades over a touring...see Jonathan's post. In fact, it seems like the 991 Touring and R were closer to each other than the 992 Touring and ST. ST is a winning combo.

The percentage of 911/718 production allocated to tts/heritage/limited/gt/rs cars is absurd, yes. The public company goal is to sell more cars over 200k euros.

Another way to look at it is Porsche is cranking out more great cars than ever before and really delivering to customers what they want. I don’t personally like the sticker package cars, but I’d be happy to buy each and every gt, rs, st, sc, Dakar, tts, etc car they make. They are all fantastic and interesting, mechanically and aesthetically. It’s not like they are selling gt edition 4 banger Macans

The s/t is mega cool. I would love to get a shot at one. I am curious about lack of RWS influence in driving dynamics because I think it’s one of the elements that makes my gt3 feel so much lighter on its feet vs the gt4rs

This is much more than a numbered car...

And what don't you agree with my prediction? If I'm wrong, I'll admit that I'm wrong.

Maybe. Dropping 20kph while adding 15hp implies very lively gearing.

EDIT: Website looks like only 0.2s faster than GT3 with manual in 0-100kph (62 mph). That's not more than you'd expect with 15hp and 35kg advantage. So, not sure about gearing. Also, I can see now from video that it has GT3 size tires, not RS...

I never said it wasn't a cool car but if you think that most of these cars will be driven regularly you are kidding yourself. More and more Porsches have become an investment asset class now.

Other than collectors, what makes the value of this $200k over a GT3 Touring?

Is this not simply the nature of the beast for just about any/all luxury goods? Some will get driven, some wont. Some will go at MSRP, some will go to flippers or to folks willing to pay big $$. I don't think it's worth copy + pasting frustrations from one hard to get car to the next, and those that come after. Simply the world we're living in.

It's not worth $200k more than my Touring. I might be a buyer at MSRP (I'm not a big enough whale at my dealer to get one at MSRP) but no way am I interested in the car around $500k but I'm sure many will be.

I think it only makes sense to compare MSRP's between these models (closer to $100k difference with more standard equipment like RS engine, Mags, PCCB, LWB's, etc.).

Trying to understand the speculators' market is beyond my pay grade...

Porsche has done a fantastic job of putting out 27 variations of the same platform.
And it seems to be working for not only enthusiasts, but shareholders.

I dont have a problem with that because I dont know of any auto manufacture that is a "non-profit" company.
And if people want to do nothing but collect them and put them in their garage forever, so be it.
It's their money.

Love everything about the ST.

The flared door panels, the bubble roof, the hood, bacon strip, badging, etc.
But agree with others that they missed an opportunity with the ducktail.
I can imagine "it" came up in the design study. Wonder why it didnt
make it.

Not true for all luxury goods but still the case for most, especially high end cars. The car being numbered will be a big driver of the high premiums to get one. I'm happy that I already have a special very car in my garage.
