In California, all GT3 models are PDK-only!

After reading the news, I am super bummed. This is a nightmare. I'm in California but actually have my allocation coming from another state. So, while the news says that all GT3 models sold in California will be PDK-only, does it also prevent you from bringing a 6-speed manual in from another state and registering it? I presume it would, but I'd like to know. I'm guessing it's like trying to register a car in CA that isn't 50-state emissions legal.

Which has effected the sound. So I’d imagine it will be fitted to the GT3 unfortunately.

This has nothing to do with emissions. it has to do with selling cars that exceed 95db sound levels when noise tests are conducted
The issue has to do with an outdated California Code of Regulations testing procedure (SAE J1470) that dates back to 1992, when manual cars had four or five gears. A newer version of this test -- SAE J2805 -- was made available in May 2020, but it has not been adopted by the California Highway Patrol. "We understand that CHP has been planning to update [the test] to incorporate the new SAE procedure," Porsche said. "At this juncture, we are awaiting this regulatory claim."

Vehicle Code 27151
(b) For the purposes of exhaust systems installed on motor vehicles with a manufacturer’s gross vehicle weight rating of less than 6,000 pounds, other than motorcycles, a sound level of 95 dbA or less, when tested in accordance with Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J1169 May 1998, complies with this section. Motor vehicle exhaust systems or parts thereof include, but are not limited to, nonoriginal exhaust equipment.Last edited by hacker-pschorr; 06-17-2021 at 10:14 AM. Reason: Removed quoted post
