I think it would be hard to not be available in some way for the GT3 (standard or option) since it is available as an option for the 992 Carerra.

Yes, that's why I originally assumed it would be standard (if it's truly a significant weight saver and not mostly cosmetic)

Is 30% enough? I think it is more than cosmetic.

30% of what though? 30% is a huge savings if the normal roof is very heavy. If the normal roof is just a few pounds, then 30% is virtually meaningless...

I think the normal metal roof on a GT3 is usually fairly light - that's why it doesn't have the ability to add the roof rack that you can order on a Carrera (doesn't have the beefy structure to support the rack rails). Not sure how much lighter the CF version will be than an already lightened GT3 roof.

Since the CF roof on the Carrera also dispenses with the heavy roof rack mounting rails and strengthening required for them, I think the weight savings on the GT3 will be far less than 30% (and we still don't have actual weight numbers)...

I think when the 991 GT3 RS went to a CF or Magnesium roof, the weight savings over the GT3 was very minimal...

Good points. Maybe that is why they used a percentage (i.e. 30% which sounds like a lot) to advertise the CF roof instead of an actual weight savings.

Standard aluminum roof on 992 should be about 5 kilos .
In 992 Turbo S lightweight package CF roof is not included, and it is included in Sport Package that is mostly a cosmetic package .
A magnesium roof should arrive according to this picture

So, that's 11 pounds for the heavier Carrera roof. Savings of around 3.3 pounds for the Optional Carrera roof that replaces the Aluminum skin with CF and also deletes the roof rack mounting rails. So, if the GT3 gets same CF roof, I imagine the savings is well under 3 pounds...

At least they won't force the US market to take the sliding sunroof that adds lots of weight and reduces headroom like they did with the 997.1 GT3 (no sunroof-delete option here and not even a Sunroof option in RoW)

It would be cool if there were some non-black interior options. I think the 996 was the last time (natural brown leather option)

Agree and that would keep me out of CXX interior spend. But I doubt they will because of CXX availability. I mean these are available in the model range, but they know they can squeeze more money out of people. But you may have more uptake if they took it out of CXX and made it say a $5000 option.

Maybe this will inspire you a bit with your build (from 7:30):

Thanks! He's like the 959 refresh king. I haven't seen that video, will watch tonight.

I am afraid though of the process...it was such a pain on the 718 Spyder to the point the interior didn't happen. Seemed like a lousy internal process with PCC and PAG. Pandemic also created some challenges, but they couldn't even arrange a virtual meeting because PAG wasn't responsive. I imagine it should be better this time around but who knows.

Excellent but Shark seems so close to Voodoo that I wouldn't think the $8k delta worth it.
Also careful on matt black wheels, they are a bitch to keep clean! (you'd think matt black would be super easy to keep clean but just like a black car, it's not)
I'm loving the 'chase' of the 992 GT3 reveal.
