Excellence magazine I received today ( April issue - this is way early) have a nice article on the 992 GT3. Not many secrets left.
* 50% more downforce to 500lb at 198mph
* weight identical to 991.2
* 502 hp or same as speedster
* hood is a Motorsport derived weave to save weight
* double wishbone front suspension from the cup car
* spring rates increased 25-30%
* front wheels 9.5x 20 12 x 21 in rear with 255 and 315 but should fit 265 and 325 (my opinion)
* 408mm front brakes and 380mm rear
* there will be a Clubsport package
* transmissions and gearing stays same
* PDK available in touring
* launch color is Shark blue

Interesting news on the spring rates. That plus the double wishbone front end, plus increased tire size and increased aero should give a measurable increase in grip. Without any significant change in the engine/trans dept they have to get the lap time with more stick...

Sounds like it's designed to put slightly faster lap times (esp on the ring) but not so much is going to happen in terms of straight line acceleration... Would be interesting to see if this one gets the ITB's (Individual Throttle Bodies) from the speedster. If so, maybe a slightly louder/deeper induction noise?

Then again, this is Porsche and they underrate everything so I wouldn't be surprised if this thing puts a few car lengths on a 991.2 PDK in terms of acceleration.

Thank you for sharing Norge.

The 992 has gotten so "techy" for a GT3 that a manual just seems wrong, and forced IMO. Yeah the nubbin is whack. Whereas in the 991.2, it's still got analog gauges, and those awesome "clicky" tactile buttons. The MT is very fitting in that car.

Either way, AP has said that the GT3 and it's engine are meant to be paired with the PDK (991).

In a GT3/RS they need to get rid of that fake transmission tunnel.

PS: Yes yes, everyone is wittier, wiser, smarter, and likes to one up each other with their own 2 cents on a topic. Buffet, Einstein, Hawking, James Bond 007, all have nothing on us. We're all 200 IQ mysterious, humble, charmers.
I meant an advantage in terms of cornering, lap times ultimately, but not weight and fun factor. I've still never driven a Touring, I'm sure that would help convert me.

I just realized that the reveal for the Mclaren Artura and the 992 GT3 will be on the same day. I'm not particularly interested in the Artura beyond what it may do to 600lt spider prices. If those take a big dip over the next year or so, I might just squeeze into one.
