Default 992 GT3 - Official Launch

Any guesses on the official press release date?

Matt Farah from Smoking Tire was recently at PEC LA driving 5 of APs favourite GT cars. Commentary on the event is embargoed until Dec 28. Farah says it's because it takes a while for all the content creators to get a turn. I agree it could also be that but I think it has to to with the actual press launch and the event he attended is connected to it.

So my money is on an official press release late December or in January. I had previously called for a November press release (as per usual timelines).

From the other thread.....wanted to keep it here in the right thread: Official Launch date and time from Porsche is Feb 16th at 3pm Central European Time.

Porsche will be live streaming it. Count down clock below.

You will know when it happens, because there will be lots of social media coverage, teasers, etc.

Considering that you have a zero batting average, I'm not sure I would listen to your new Dec or Jan release timing. But seriously, I think you are probably right. Some other smarter people than me had already said Jan 21st/25th or something like that. Seems like it is going to be sooner than that.

Like the two AP videos and the new Edmunds article?

I blame COVID for throwing it off. Haha.

You can listen to Smoking Tire Podcast, recent Q&A show...he names the models he drove at the event. They are on loan from Porsche Museum. He's made videos but can't release till Dec 28.

More like quick iPhone pictures from the usual suspects with captions along the lines of “I’m in _____ driving the new GT3; I can’t share driving impressions yet, but the embargo ends on ______”

That happens with many new car launches, of course.

I suspect that Harris and Catchpole already drove the 992 GT3 development mule off camera since another journalist I know drove it (and Angus Mackenzie did too).

You almost gave me a heart attack, dude.

In all seriousness, I think consensus is that Porsche is going to announce around Jan 25th.

Sorry man!

Where is the post on Jan 25th? You're second to reference it.

Ha! No problem.

This post from Chris3963 references "75ish days" on 11/12, putting it around the end of Jan. People seem to think it's credible (though I haven't been on the site long enough to know why).

Chris3963 has provided many accurate predictions to the Rennlist Forum. We could speculate on his sources. Personally, I like to think that his job is to clean automotive factories in Zuffenhausen, particularly in their Marketing Departments.

Ah ok. Yes I'd put a lot of stock in what he has to say. Been following him since 991.1 days. He is in the know.
