... and downhill the whole way.
Not gonna happen, unless JB is way off the pace, in which case he shouldn't have been the driver and they shouldn't have announced the time.
Seriously doubt this car is 16 secs faster than the 'regular' GT3 (which has some significant aero).

Well, we don't really know what the GT3 would have done with Kevin E and repeated efforts and dialing it in. They went sub-7 almost immediately and stopped. Pretty sure there is something left on the table, but the goal was clearly just a time than began with a "6" (and the official time is less than a 10th of a second under 7 minutes).

A guy mentions that the time is for a full lap and yet for some reason all the comments happily proceed assuming the time is for a 20.6km lap. Like... how does that even happen when the difference between full and SA laps has been discussed like 100 times in this thread alone? People already made the mistake of not taking into account which kind of lap was being discussed 100 times, were corrected 100 times, and yet the same thing effortlessly happens again!
Anyway, if the time really is for a full lap, then that's 10s faster than the 992 GT3, about 2s faster than the GT2RS, and only about 1s slower than the AMG GT BS. Which would be a pretty good time and well within expectations.

All this discussion is very interesting but I'm looking forward to the " how much over " thread plus the " how to spec the 992 GT3 RS for maximum profit on the secondary market " thread. Those are going to be interesting for the majority of us early risers, closed mall parking lot gatherers and Starbucks/Dunkin Donuts drinkers...

6:47.25 for the GT2 RS would be harder to beat, but I think doable under ideal conditions.
Doesn't really matter though, 6:49.3 is already fast enough to show that the aero was worth it.

I can’t say more than what’s written; they are PR-trained pros.

car is underpowered? read between the lines, "we cannot get more power out and meet emissions standards for the 4.2" , translate this from Andynese into englisch., this actually means, we are going with hybrid assist next time, we aren't gonna spend more Geld for the development of gas motor like you want, now we reduce displacement fanboy. We will be telling you "the GT customers asked for more power and this is the only way we could do it to satisfy them" They will give it some Porsche acronym like PPB =Porsche Power Boost, "Ja, it will automatically kick in or you can press button on wheel marked "overtake" or "boost" or "turbo" (I know not turbo but either is Taycan turbo) this will shut up all the gas motor people and they will blame us for hybrid/KERS rather than blame greens, EPA, US political policy destruction of performance cars, personally I wonder if the the 991 is the GT3RS sweet spot
