1. There won’t be a huge leap forward with the engine. 992.1 GT3 will just get the 991.2 RS engine. Not that much of difference since the .2 RS engine is just the 991.2 GT3 engine with software modifications. Both are true race derived car engines, built for reliability. (Compared to 991.1 GT3 engine)
2. Unlikely to be huge difference in performance you can actually notice.
3. These cars don’t hold their value as well as before, so discouraging both speculators from entering the market, and the casual owners who thought they could drive a GT3 1-2 years for free.
4. No huge leap forward in internal electronics/ infotainment.
5. Manual/PDK-S and Touring options all already exist in 991.2 generation
6. Car uglier than before (subjective of course)

Isnt the 992 turbo engine a variant of the 3.0 9a2 motor, bored out to 3.8?? Compression is super low on this engine like 8.7:1. I heard that in a couple of the reviews.

Im seriously starting to think we will se a 9A2 variant in the gt3. Like 4.2L revving to 8500+. More tq and power than the prior cup engine.

Correct. And i bet we see bigger differentiation with the RS. Higher redline and fundamental aero/chassis differences

Regardless of what Dr. Walliser says it also makes zero sense business wise for Porsche to abandon the GT3 Motorsport engine. Most companies plan in advance and for the 4.0 motorsports engine to get the green light in the first place for development and implementation they would have a long term plan for it (5-10 years). When was it introduced? 2018 for the 991.2 GT3? No way they’re gonna scrap that motor 2 years later in 2020......what a waste of R&D money.

and when EU and China regulator laws (damn) blocked the sportier engines
why not a eco and margin friendly 9A2 4liters NA for 992 GT3 Touring
and the "old" motorsport very costly 991 .2 RS only for 992 RS (maybe with mild hybrid) ?
Andreas Preuninger (Mr. GT3) said future might not see the (winged) 992 GT3
but the GT3 touring (9A2 engine?) and RS only

When you have a 9A2 evo (718 GT4 992 Turbo engine ) that cost less (more juicy margins for Porsche $$$$$$$)

That would be terrible and if Porsche did that I’d go snag a used 991.2 GT3 and call it a day. I’m only interested in the GT3 over my soon to be GT4 for its godly 9K motorsports engine. If Porsche takes that out for more “juicy margins” then I’d vote with my wallet and walk away from the 992 GT3.

Article clearly says that 4.0 race engine will still be there
