I've had similar little black areas around the clamps on every car and factory/aftermarket exhaust system I've owned over the years. What I've found is that condensation builds up in the exhaust and finds it way out carrying carbon out of the exhaust with it. Once it heats up and dries, it leaves the black carbon behind. On some cars I've even have some condensation blow out the tail pipes on startup and leave little black marks on my garage floor haha. It all looks very normal to me, I'd run it without worrying one bit about it
Regards,
John Gaydos

Some slip joints can cold leak. That's what this looks like. Take a smoke stick or small flame and hold it on the area once you get it good and hot from driving. It should not leak when hot.

What is the labor time to install Sport Cats on a 911T ?
Does the Rear Bumper need to be removed to do the job?
No bumper removal required. If you do it at home, I recommend you still remove the bumper. It’s easier that way.
A shop that knows the car should take 2 hours.
Mine took 3 hours because the cats were so damn tight into the muffler that it took about an hour just to separate these three parts. But it’s not the norm.
Selling dealer ( who is 8 miles from Soul Exhaust quoted me $750 to do the job.). Thought I might get it done before I shipped the car to Colorado.
Even if it’s 3 hours, still does not compute,
I think the service advisor is mis-informed an total time.

That's a bit much on an hourly rate, I'd double check for clarification.
Our fabricator George has been on 991.2 Carrera duty for almost a month now, full time. He's got making them down to a science now!
It's a beautiful day out and we've got a beautiful GTS in for some Sport Catalytic Converters and BMC air filter. We're really digging the color combo!
George prides himself in his beautiful back purged welds! We're building a dozen sets of Sport Cats to keep lead times low - thank you for giving us the opportunity to upgrade your Carrera!
Installed my Soul HF cats today. Weather was warm enough here to attempt in my garage. Perfect fit. Glorious sound. Passed the ‘not too noisy’ test with my wife. A few tips for anyone attempting the install:
- Purchase a 22mm oxygen sensor socket tool - makes the removal and install of the sensors much easier.
- Also remove the rear lower plastic wheel wells - gives you better access to the heat shield bolts.
- Slide coupling on small pipe on to the muffler side - this will allow the muffler and cats to come off (and re-install) easier
- Remove the rear wheels - much easier if you’re using jack stands to lift the rear of the car.
Have you noticed more interior noise exhaust sound? Do you notice much performance difference?

Great question. First, it’s winter here in Toronto although we’re having a warm winter so far. Secondly, we have the T which is generally a noisy 911 compared to others. The interior and exterior sounds are a lot like the videos on the Soul web site. I would say however that there is a lot more grunt sound in the lower RPM range especially if the window is rolled down slightly. Also, more turbine whirling sound. I can’t comment on more hp given tires are spinning in 2nd, 3rd and 4th on the cold pavement (summer tires). However, I can say the the engine seems to rev more freely. Overall, based on a few trips, extremely pleased so far. Numeric shifter and cables install next!

Thank you for explaining!
