Thanks for making this! Very helpful. Random aside, but what is that in the center of the Bendpak that’s jacking up the back of the car, if you don’t mind me asking? I’m building out a similar setup shortly (for uses just like this), and I’m curious.

That is the rolling pneumatic jack bendpak offers. You can slide it the full length of the lift and position it anywhere you want. Has extendable arms and a couple different style lifting pads. I consider it a must have if you are getting a lift and plan to actually work on your cars and not just use it for storage. I can jack the car up in about 30 seconds total with positioning and lifting. Very nice!

I'm confused, if you guys can make a drone-less exhaust for non PSE, why can't u do the same for PSE?
We have a lot of room to work with the drone tubes as there are no valves / muffler / dual piping inlets incorporated into the design of the non-PSE system. The PSE system is very good from the factory - it's very high flowing with valves open and the muffler is effective at low RPM. To get it louder without increasing drone is a major challenge. At this time most of our efforts are put towards keeping up with the high demand for our existing products, keeping lead times low and build quality as high as possible! We'd want to use something like the chambered muffler we built for a special R8 V8 project we did but need to experiment more and scale for more variety and full production. In time it may come, but we aren't going to do it unless it meets our high expectations and performs well - as you all deserve nothing less.

This is awesome! Thank you again for the video and it's been a pleasure chatting with you through the entire install!

excellent video - any more tips on removing that heat shield 4th screw ? is it accessible by removing the wheels?

Not to put you guys on the spot, but what do you think about the sharkwerks exhaust on the PSE car?

I removed the wheels and found that to be the key. I kinda of showed in the video how on the passenger side I could get my wrench in there with an extension when I was removing the screw. Getting the screw back in the hole to tighten up was a little tricky. I ended up basically lightly taping blue painters tape onto it and the Torx bit socket to hold it to the socket until I got it in the hole. The drivers side was also tricky but I did not really capture that in the video. I am not saying it cant be done without removing the wheels but it sure would be a lot harder!

Honestly when I took that screw out I was thinking to myself there is no way I am going to get it back in. The tape trick worked and on the drivers side I loosened a hose clamp and slid it out of the way (did not disconnect the hose) and was able to wedge a long socket extension all the way to the hole. The rest of the job was very straight forward.

Thank you. That is a Factory Five kit I built myself. Coyote crate motor and about 475 hp with the tune and 2500 pounds with me in it. It is quite fun!!
Currently doing a complete rebuild of a '79 911SC in a hot rod/ restomod style.

I think it’s an ingenious solution for those who want more sound without modifying the cats. We haven’t heard it in person so we have no personal experience to offer. Like you, we’re very interested in hearing more first hand reviews and seeing independent dyno results.

As this is a development thread....how would we engineer a solution for the 991.2 PSE replacement? We’d have to consider a few of the design elements below:
  • Mufflers to reduce overall volume and harsh notes
  • Resonators to control certain aspects of sound and limit wide sweeping drone and rasp
  • Helmholtz resonators can target specific frequencies / drone in the RPM range without altering tone.
  • Catalytic converters by their nature are slightly restrictive and can reduce rasp and volume
  • X-pipes / H-Pipes to blend banks and smooth the tone when used correctly
  • Use thicker materials / piping to have a slight reduction in volume
  • Introduce angles / curves to control rasp / prevent a straight pipe sound on shorter straight out exhausts
  • Restrict the flow by using smaller diameter piping at the potential cost of power (last resort for us)
A variant from us would use one or more of the methods on this list to emphasis the good tones while mitigating drone to the best of our ability.

Nice! My Uncle had an 82 Targa SC that drew me to the brand. Have been in lust/love ever since...

I wish I had the space and skill to do what you are doing!
