Talking New GTS First Weekend Drive

Just received my manual 2017 GTS and took it for it's first spin...all I can say is WOW.

For anyone on the fence about the 991.2, especially the GTS, all I can say is that as a former 997.2 4S owner, this (for me) is just in a different league.

I was pretty deliberate this time about what I chose, and the widebody 2WD manual with the bigger twin-turbos and 4-way ventilated leather seats is everything I hoped for. I'm taking it easy for the brake-in period, but there's torque everywhere and I love it. Silly stuff like the LED lights and Apple Car Play changes the game too for a daily driver, and finally I have more engine noise than road noise, and I love it!

So if you're on the fence, and you already have an appreciation for pretty linear boost and torque, don't wait just do it!

Cheers, I'm off to start the full AMMO regiment!

Very cool.

How are the LED headlights?

Don't care for the PDK? I would think it'd be nicer as a DD.

I love the LED headlights, it's impressive how bright they are.

I did drive the PDK, and the launch control alone put a smile on my face that inspite of myself I couldn't wipe off. That said, I never feel connected to a car unless it's manual. I've experienced the benefit of the PDK on the track, and the paddles are awesome. Really just a preference, but there's no question about the superiority of the PDK these days.

Try driving it at more than 1400 rpm in 4th once in awhile (just had to razz you a bit there).

^ regarding manual transmission this is one of my biggest???

I've owned S2000 sweet MT, also owned M3 with DCT which was also sweet.

I think I could safely be happy with either one, the MT is cheaper and weight less but then on the whole it seems like the PDK is quicker in every single situation. Not saying PDK means it's got more power (but) it would feel that way.

IOW if the PDK makes the car feel like it's got more power etc..

I never got to use launch control on the M3 because it was a huge cluster f to get it engaged.

In everyday driving, HW especially you were .1 seconds away from best acceleration gear.

Almost, to me it's that I'd like MT (heart) but PDK (brain).

If you want the quickest, then go PDK, there's no question.

I chose manual because I enjoy it.

Manual is what I chose as well for DD.
I get bored really quickly with PDK. Can't go wrong with either choice I think.

It's a great feeling to get behind the wheel of your new Pcar, regardless of the model. Enjoy it through driving it.

Nice car....road looks familiar. I am in YUL also.....looking at a GTS earlier this spring but no one seemed hungry for business so I will wait till next spring. Still a lot of back and forth between PDK and manual and hoping allocations for GTS coupes open up. Did you get rear wheel steering?

I'm sure it does.

You've got the right read on the GTS sales situation. I don't think there are any deals to be had yet.
