Was at a two day open track event two weeks ago. Car was in Sport Plus shifting "manual". First day everything performed normally as it had in the past. Half way through the second day is when things got a little strange. The track has 4 tight corners where you shift down to second. In three of the corners everything worked fine, in the last corner I shifted to second, but mid corner it up shifted to 4th. Next lap same thing, three corners fine, 4th one up shifted mid corner. Thought I might have nudged it somehow so put it in auto, exactly the same up shift on one corner only. If I manually shifted down again it went to the proper gear.
Decided to leave it alone and drive the eight hours home. Strangely on the way home in Sport/auto, pulling out from a stop it went to 5th gear at 30 mph. Pushed the switch to Sport plus and it stayed in 5th. back to Sport and Normal, stayed in 5th. Downshifted and everything was fine...for about a week and then it did the upshift to 5th at 30mph once again in Sport/auto.
Had it in for service and mentioned it but of course there were no fault codes and a short drive naturally didn't show any issues.
Just wondering if anyone else has run in to this on their car. Seems like it might be some kind of sensor or in need of a "reboot." It's a '15 C4S with about 6000 miles.
Thanks
Hugh
Thanks guys for your "sympathetic" responses. Just bought the car in November with 3000miles. So not bad considering only a few months of non snowy weather. Anybody have any comments on the question?
More seriously though usually when the PDK needs a re-learn cycle, it just shifts less smoothly because it's not giving the right throttle inputs. Sounds to me like your PDK control unit is fried or there's a bad electrical connection. I'm sure you're going to need the dealer to troubleshoot for you.
Thanks for all the input (seriously) Does sound like a dealer visit again. The reason I asked here at the "font of knowledge" is that it is sometimes helpful to go in with a bit of info after someone else has gone through the same thing.
I previously had an '09 997.2 C4S which was tracked a few times each year with absolutely no problems so this is kinda new.
