I use the Schoshe Magic Mount in all my cars. In the Porsches I use the Vent clip mounting; in a few others (Wrangler, Pickup) I use the adhesive mount to dash version.

I bought the first one at Target several years ago (3?), long before Rennline's came out. Now I just order on Amazon if I need another. The magnet's super strong and holds my phone on my Jeep's dash for 2-3 weeks of serious off-roading in Moab at a time.

Just suggesting this as an alternative if you don't want to remove the side panel to mount the Rennline. Cup holders still work.

I received the mount yesterday and it was super easy to install. The console side panel popped off easily without any issues. Total install time <10 mins. Here's what it looks like mounted next to PCM. It's easy to view the phone when attached, unobstructed by the steering wheel.

Will this work with a manual transmission and and not get in way (991.2 if that matters)

- Many of the mounts I saw intrude on the passenger's space. This one keeps the phone out of the way of both the driver and the passenger. The seat cooler/heater button is just a little harder to reach from the passenger side this way, but slide the phone off for a moment and they are not blocked at all.

Love mine also. It was the first thing I bought. I ran a charger underneath the trim piece and pulled a small amount out for charging. Plugged the other end in the glove box. Can't see any cord. I mounted mine higher. Better visibility IMO. Blocks the closest cup holder a bit if your phones on it.

Does the magnetic part that sticks to the phone, stick directly to the back of the phone, so a case can be placed over it and hide it?

yes or just put the magnet on the back of the case. The magnet is strong enough to work through a case. I have my leather apple case over mine and it has plenty of attachment.

I put the magnet on a hard case that is easily removable so that I can easily slip a smooth and thin phone into a pocket when I'm carrying it.

I think there is plenty of room, but hopefully someone with a manual will comment.

I have the Apple silicon case and tried placing the metal plate inside of the case. It held during normal driving but the phone would either pivot or fall off when appreciable G's were applied to the car. It might be okay with thinner cases though?

I ended up roughing up the silicon on the outside of the case with a fine sandpaper and sticking the other metal plate on the outside... the metal plate's adhesive wouldn't stick to the silicon well otherwise. With it on the outside and in direct contact it is rock solid. It also does not interfere with sliding the phone in your pocket, the metal disc is very thin.

I actually wish I could use this exact solution in all of my cars. It's unobtrusive, secure, and by far the most convenient.
