About to order. Now the final question.... leather vs. alcantara? I'm thinking Alcantara since my car is a GTS with suede seats and trim already...

All works, I tested this upgrade in 718 boxster, even no ‘multifunction enable code’ needed, direct replace and change steering wheel type in vehicle configuration data and coding by PIWIS. I think same with 991.2

For you 991.1 w SC guys... are you going to order with or without the "****"?

I'm leaning towards no ****. I think its a bit cheesy to have the **** on the st wheel when it actually doesnt change the mode. But only lights up.

Agreed? Or no.

Agreed 100%. I wouldn’t even consider for a second putting something in my car that doesn’t work as designed.

Thanks for all of your help. I'll be getting the new wheel next week and I'll let you know how it works out.

Ordering Monday as well. Local dealer did a price match w PCA discount. Going w the Alcantara GT wheel w no SC dial.

Found a local computer repair place to do the soldering for me for $30. Figured they should be more qualified than me, plus the cost of going and buying the stuff myself.

Sorry guys for another post... but last question before ordering -

Wanted to confirm that this part # DOES include heating

So 991-044-400-20 =

991.2 wheel
Alcantara
Heating wheel
PDK paddles
MF
No dial

My question was really the heating element since its not stated previous.

Thanks

Good call. If they have the right tools and experience then it’s not a problem. Just make sure the person performing the resistor swap knows what he is doing. The rest of the install is straight forward and for me it was fun doing.

PM me, or post here if you have any questions.

That is the route I will be heading - 991.2 wheel with no SC mode ****. I don't pay attention to the sport, sport + lights on the standard wheel anyway.

When you move from a 991.1 to 991.2 you can re-use the 991.1 airbag correct? Only need to order the new steering wheel and the adapter.

No need to order the new airbag.

You will need new airbag for 991.2 steering wheel. 991.1 and 991.2 have different size airbag.

I got this wheel from Heinz (911ava) on ebay. He has just about any combination of style and different color inserts you can think of ready to ship. I really like the red stitching and extra wrap he does on these. It's going in on my 991.1 with MF next week using the GPS adapter.

these .2 steering wheels sure aren't cheap especially since the .1 looks awfully nice to begin with
