Default Turbo vs GTS vs 4S

In German, but still a very good review of the 3 cars. Outstanding results for the GTS. GT3 equalling performance.

Wow, it was really close to the turbos time...(the gts). That's pretty major. One has to wonder if the power kit does more than what the factory claims power-wise

That is an interesting study of weight vs displacement. The GTS is a few hundred pounds lighter than the Turbo- that really counts on the race track. For drag racing it is not so close. Based on the posted numbers, the Turbo will have more than a half second advantage e.g., (quarter mile) 11.55 v. 10.96 s. That amounts to many car lengths and with the added displacement it will be moving away. But the conclusion re value seems right on.

According to the article, the curb weight difference between the GTS and the Turbo is only 40 kilos, i.e., 88 pounds. I am a bit skeptical about that as the Car and Driver review of the Turbo listed its curb weight at 1658 kilos, and the Motor Trend review of the Turbo S listed its curb weight as 1613 kilos, versus this article that lists it as 1594.

Regardless, my take away is that the GTS must really handle well if it is within 3/10s of a second on a 69 second lap when compared to a car that is only 88 pounds heavier but has a 130 HP and a 111 ft-pound torque advantage.

Minor correction: The article indicates that it was a non-S Turbo. So the bhp advantage is 90 bhp not 130 bhp
