Default Xpel & Door Decals

Can anyone confirm if Xpel protection film will go over the door decals neatly or do they need to be removed first and and a new set reapplied?

Your help greatly appreciated.

I'd debate that... a good installer would put the film over and the decals would look painted and not like stickers. Minor difference. Xpel over also means equal sheen.

I think you could go either way.

Added benefit is that Xpel would protect the stickers.

You "can" do either. There will be a small area around all the letters that the PPF doesn't stick to because they're raised.

I think a more pro look is remove and put on top of PPF. After all, they're on the paint now. You want the PPF to look invisible. Upon inspection, you'll notice that a condom is covering the stickers.

That's my take!

I had XPEL applied over the stickers, no issues whatsoever

We just put it over the stickers. There is a chance the film will pull them off when its removed so we usually don't use a tack solution over them, just slip solution. So far only ones I've pulled off during removal was on a Mustang GT.

Little waive of the heat gun would suck that right in.

It's hard to tell online... but hopefully I'm not coming across as combative. I'd like to get some decals for my car and often pondered if it was too late or now with full Xpel.

I asked the question because it is Porsche uk who have started to offer this service and I am having my car covered pre delivery by them. I thought I let them do it, as I thought I would have more of a come back if there was a problem and I wasn't happy. The guy I dealt with showed me a number of cars they were working on and the results looked good. However as it's a relatively new service he didn't seem sure of the best way of dealing with the door decal, not a great sign I know, but thus my question. I think I'll have the decals removed and reapplied as I think there is less chance of a problem. Whilst it may work having the film over the top of them, I don't want to run the risk of having the car back in with them shortly after taking delivery. It's been a long wait.

My xpel is installed over the GTS door stickers. No problem at all. Looks perfect.

Take off decals, apply Xpel to car.

Then, with the decals off the car, apply Xpel on the decals.

Then reapply the decals on the door/side panels.

Win-win.
