I currently have a Land Cruiser (08) and a 09 Turbo cab fully set up for the track....

Just got divorced and need a cool car to start dating if you know what I mean

Was thinking about selling the turbo and truck --- getting a GTS or Targa with PDK to daily drive ... Problem is --- I still want to track 4 / 5 times a year ....

Thoughts ?

I'd go with the GTS. Not sure what your local DE regulations are regarding Targa tops and track use.

 

EIther one of them will get you into more track events then a cab will. I would go for the GTS.

 

If your goal is to attract and impress women, then we need to know what type of woman you are trying to woo. Maybe you want to buy a pickup truck. Maybe a Lexus LS400.

 

He needs a car that is cool, can pick up chicks, and take to the track. Your choice fits 1 out of 3 so it's a no go. GTS gets my vote. Picking up a girl in a Porsche is probably not the best idea, unless a short term gf is what you are looking for.

Most women don't give a crap about the car you're driving, it can be a Honda Accord or a Ferrari 458- just have a clean interior. If you're trying to attract the gold digger type, I think escorts are much cheaper in the long run!

 

^ this. I dated this one girl for three weeks before she even saw my car. More than two decades and three kids later, she still digs me, I think in spite of my enthusiasm for sports cars!

Oh, and get a GTS for a daily driver and track day weapon.

 

I'd say most women and men care. I have a Honda Insight as my DD and my 911 is my fun car. There is definitely a noticeable difference in how people act and react. Not saying it is why I bought the car or it is right, but its the simple truth.

 

I wouldn't want a woman that cared about what I drive. My wife of 15 years and mother of my 2 boys doesn't care to ride around in my basic work pickup. Keep the Land Cruiser, if they won't go out with you driving that vehicle their not worth your time. Get a GTS for yourself and only show them that after you've been dating 3+ months. David
