I remember this hot date I had back in 2000. My options were to pick her up in a:

1999 Dodge 2500 with hopped up Cummins motor

or

2000 Porsche C2S

I took the Porsche.

Married her 3 years later.

Thanks guys.....

Lets consetrate on priorities for a bit - 1) I need to get laid (highest priority) ... I could care less if they are gold digging or whatever ... I will throw them to the curb the day after - at least until I find the right one .... 2) I need my track days ... don't need to be the fastest lap time - just want to enjoy the day ... 3) I want to get laid ...

what do you think.... GTS suitable for a track day? or maybe build up a C4S a bit ?

Budget is say 125k ? Wait for the .2 ? or just get a .1 and do some slight mods....

Thanks again... just having some fun here - been married 25 years - ready to enjoy Miami as a single man ...

and yes,,, the girl I settle in with will love my Land Cruiser .... but for a little bit let me enjoy - please :-0 )

Get an old Cayman S for track and save funds for a nice cruiser(with a big back seat).

Is it wrong to think you should only need a Porsche for priority number 2? Number 1 and 3 are really easy these days..........

My posts are in jest .... just kidding round ....

In all seriousness, is the GTS or Targa a capable track day car for a few days a year... I would assume the answer is -- yes....

As most have posted, the GTS is your best option of the choices you have presented.

The Turbo and Targa are not "ideal" track cars. Meaning you wanted to gut the car and go racing. For DE they are all fine, especially 4-5 time a year. There are no winners in DE! LOL. Any Porsche sports car is a great DE vehicle.

If I were in your shoes's I'd go Targa. It's the best of both worlds for open top and closed top driving. It'll do just fine on the track for DE. All the crap about high center of gravity, extra weight is BS. You're not racing, you are lapping and plenty of folks do just fine in a 2002, V6 Mustang on track.

Just got divorced and need a cool car to start dating if you know what I mean

Was thinking about selling the turbo and truck --- getting a GTS or Targa with PDK to daily drive ... Problem is --- I still want to track 4 / 5 times a year ....

Thoughts ?

Thanks guys

To be honest what you have now is probably perfect. But I get wanting to make a change for the sake of change.

If you like the open top thing, Targa makes sense. Targa GTS makes even more sense, but it starts to get pretty expensive at that point.

It'll fill it short term, and I think that's all OP wants.

I know it did for me until I decided I was too old to party all night and work the next day to pay for nice things.
