Lmao. Are you sure you aren't referring to the new 718? Now that certainly has a Subaru twang to it as it is indeed a flat 4 with a turbo just like the Subaru platform.

I see you're in NC, which is great because in the US you are actually protected by the Magnusson Moss Act. You can put aftermarket components on your car, and if there is a component failure that aftermarket piece has to have a conclusive correlation to the failure of the component to void the warranty coverage. For example, lets say you have our exhaust system and you have a water pump leak or your radio stops working. Completely unrelated, and they have to maintain your warranty. We are all lucky in that Porsche is much more lenient about upgrades than any other manufacturer we've ever worked with. Some dealerships even have their own aftermarket Motorsports division haha.

I'll shoot you a PM, we can chat more in detail about it

:
Have you read the Magnusson Act? It covers a lot of stuff on warranties, but doesn't really state what you say. https://www.mlmlaw.com/library/guide...s/undermag.htm

The act in fact allows manufacturers to say in their warranties that use of aftermarket or non approved parts can void your warranty. I believe Porsche actually has such a statement in their warranty.

You are correct that many dealers install aftermarket parts. However, PCNA is the entity that provides the warranty for your car, not the dealer. Porsche has gotten very strict on dealers regarding warranty claims and many times requires photos and other documentation to prove there has been no modifications to the car before a claim will be paid. I had a friend with ta GT3 with aftermarket exhaust that had an engine seal leak. To get Porsche to pay that claim, he had to reinstall his factory exhaust.

I am not saying that your exhausts will cause any damage at all to a car. I am saying that buyer beware when installing aftermarket parts because they can and have caused warranty issues. I agree with you that having an aftermarket exhaust is not likely to cause an issue with a stereo warranty claim. But an engine claim could be a very different story.

Can someone do a comparison of the sound *inside* the car with windows closed? Maybe it's just me but I don't put my ears against the exhaust and I couldn't care less about what people outside hear. What I care about is what I hear inside the cabin which can be wildly different than what's heard outside.

Sammy I have PSE on a new 2017 GTS. It is really quiet to me even with windows closed a/c on and PSE valves open. Cruising on the highway at 75mph open or close is no real difference, zero drone and the tire noise is louder in the car than the PSE exhaust with valves open. However under throttle from around 3k and up there is a nice tone difference between open and closed PSE valves...but nothing ear deafening or obtrusive at all.

Exhaust sounds good. Now if you could just figure out how to get rid of that turbo "whistle"...

Love it, the turbo whistle does not bother me, would rather has the low end torque of the 991.2.

That wasnt my intent... I was genuinely asking if there is a way to mute or drown out the whistle.

You make a fair observation. I think it’s because the .1 is significantly slower and the .2 sounds more muted and has less of a sporty throttle response low down. These are hard truths, and hard truths make people angry.

I don't thick thats the case, its the repeated inaccuracy and subjectivity.

I think a lot of people simply parrot what they hear or read rather than explore, measure, investigate and analyse.

Also, its absolutely correct to say a small number of people, perhaps three or four, that have consistently derailed thread after thread. The psychology of which is very telling.

I no longer share data here, because its pointless to do so as one can't have a mature discussion.

Any way to make it sound like a car and not a tractor, when at idle and low RPM?

I hope you'll reconsider.

.2 owners like myself, and I'm guessing a few others who casually read Rennlist, enjoy reading and learning from your posts.

I also hope that negativity and nonsense does not continually invade threads. But I understand that is not realistic so I'm really hoping we stop validating the nonsense (when it's actually nonsense versus a constructive and informative debate) with responses.

Straight exhaust is not "tuning" that will affect your warranty. In fact, your engine will arguably run cooler and be more durable with a straight exhaust. So let's not confuse opening up a Porsche exhaust with voiding the warranty.

p.s. to all: Please try to have your engineering hats on when posting on these sorts of discussions.

Mike beat me to it!

I also have enjoyed reading randr posts. Very precise, informative and well written.

I second this, please reconsider randr
