Default Skene Install

I will order one anyway. Thx all for the informative posts.
My Skene install last night. Gently curved the plate and frame to make it tuck closer to the bumper. Sticky tape on bracket was worthless so difficult to hold it position to get my drill holes in the right spots... really old guys (like me) don't like rolling around on the garage floor. I could hardly move this morning. =P"

I think the black plates and thin satin frame help it blend into the grill opening.

Obviously would prefer no plate at all, but I think I can live with this solution.

Gentle curve...

Skene website says the short size is the correct one for the 911. Why is everyone using the medium?

I too would like to know. Small or Medium for 991.2?
Thanks.

Mine is medium... seems to fit my 991.2 fine, but I never tried a smaller one.

The top side of the center opening curves down as you get closer to the back. Maybe the "small" (short) recommendation is to keep the bracket flat against the upper surface. I purposely have my brackets stick out a bit so this was not a problem.

The medium fits well and provides more bearing surface than the short one. I would use the medium.

@Randall 991.2 putting the curve in the plate makes a difference. Blends nicely. Nice job.

I have a medium Skene from an old car. Works great.

There seems to be a range of sizes for the 991s on their website... anywhere from Extra Short to Short depending on your particular model. You should go out and measure the depth of your bumper to make sure. Mine is 3" (base Carrera) so it appears anything from Extra Short to Long would work.

Nicely done. Have you given it the speed test?

Tomorrow is a club tour from Fresno to Pismo... then up the newly opened Pacific Coast Highway to Monterey... if it doesn't fall off, I'll consider it a success!

I really like the look of this. I purchased a Rho-Plate with extender bracket as you have for my '19 911 Carrera S Cabriolet. I haven't mounted it yet, I'm waiting for the first ticket to do so; they're $125.00 here for the first offense, $250.00 for the second. Did you align the red dot on the pivot plate at the top or bottom position?
