To the OP, a bit confused by your comments.... You say

So you were able to remove the M6 screws, release the cable that is attached to the TB housing, and remove the seal connection to the resonance tube? But the TB won't move, or is loose but you can't pull it out of engine bay? What screws are you referring-to accessing from the back of the TB??? Or am I misunderstanding your question? Oh, and for reference here is an illustration from the WM.

Is this plenum a worth while upgrade v cost ? putting a GTS plenum v standard " S " plenum

Thanks

Yes. That is, if you want the perhaps modest performance gain, and can justify the cost to begin with. Those who have added just the plenum (STG for example?) can comment on the gains or realized improvements, but typically those adding a plenum upgrade and not the full X51 kit go with something like IPD.

Also, I believe the GTS, having the X51 power kit installed at factory as OE, ALREADY has the upgraded plenum which is metal vs. plastic. The S models have plastic plenums...

adding one piece, of any hardware , to any engine, is never going to make any realistic difference. probably not even measurable. the only thing that makes a difference on a all stock engine is a boosted ecu software.

Added IPD Plenum along with Akrapovic Ti exhaust. COBB tune next. Modest boost in performance but a bit better than OEM in my 991S. Let the professionals do the install as I've seen tons of issues with folks doing plenum upgrades and having codes due to air leaks and damage to inflows during install, etc. Not worth the effort. On my 981S had them have to do leak checks and TB adapatations x3 before the car ended up being somewhat okay after an IPD plenum upgrade and still had to let the ECU "learn" the car.

Unless things have changed in the last few months, the Cobb tune is not mapped for the IPD Plenum. You will have to use the Cobb with a pro tuner and dyno. Can't imagine that adding the Plenum makes any $$ sense, but let us know when you do the tune. Would love to compare the Cobb map with the pro tune and new plenum.

can someone confirm this please? Was planning on doing the Cobb next. Would be nice to know if Cobb has a map compatible with the IPD.

If not, is cobb a better overall investment? I already have the IPD but haven't installed it yet.

Re Cobb and IBD, not sure when things might have changed, but I can confirm that Cobb says "yes" its IBD plenum is compatible with the v3 Accessport. I wrote Cobb to ask about it. The Cobb person who responded is Jon Hebbein.

As an aside, I really do like the IBD. I wanted some extra mid-range torque (so you don't have to stand on the pedal), and I got it. Not knock-your-seat-back improvement, but quite noticeable, and a nice lower octave to the PSE.

I might do the Cobb, but will wait a few months to see if the IBD is all I need.

Hope this helps.

all a plenum is going to do is give a slight amount of additional air IN flow. like better air filters, (BMC etc).
a tune with learning ability should adjust to that or a tune that accommodates for more air in and air out like modded air intake and exhaust should be adequate for that
I used evomsit, dont know if they have any 991 yet

Yes that is also what I have been told also. Cobb does work with the IPD but it would work best if I have a pro-tune done to my car. Since I did IPD and Akrapovic exhaust then when I add the Cobb I have been told that it would be best to do the pro-tune w/custom map to tie all these things together. Will let you guys know when done and what results I get. Not expecting a huge bump or anything crazy but nice change in throttle response and a bit more enjoyment in my car!

I was also told that the Cobb map also would have to be reworked (Pro-tune) with certain non OEM filters. I don't remember which one's as I run stock AF's.

Also for reference, the WM for removing the Air Distributor is "WM 244619 Removing and installing intake-air distributor." Of course this is a follow-on to the TB removal WM.

As 991C-D suggests, you can access the WM's in the PIWIS TSI online information application, and quickly pull-up these documents. I posted a video demonstrating how to use PIWIS TSI to my YouTube channel a while back if you'd like to check that out first. Here's a link to the post.... https://rennlist.com/forums/991/9129...l#post12915294
Hi Plenum, sorry for bringing this old thread from the dead. I plan on lowering my engine using instructions in WM 100109 (Workshop Manual) seems straightforward.

There is one guy in youtube that has already done it (YOLOfotos:
). What I am concerned is that the seemed to put the jack and only removed half way the mounting engine bolts. Afterwards he realized he had to take the bolts completely.

My question here would be: the jack doesnt need to come lower than the initial supporting point right? I mean, in the lowering engine instructions for the 997.1 the manual says to use the jack to lower the engine, is that the case in the 991.2?

Dont want to try it without solving all my questions, hardly I leave issues unsolved before making a repair.

Kind regards!

PD. Seems that PIWIS TSI has been disabled. I cannot enter into my account anymore. Site says it is forbidden.
