I totally agree! Coming from my heavily modified 964 (which I am keeping), I wanted a car for road trips with my GF that still had that 911ish feeling of the 964. I tested 997 C2 & C2S, 991.1 C2 & C2S and 991.2. In both 997 and 991.1, the C2 gave me more of that 911 feeling than a C2S.

The 964 will continue as my track and hooligan fun drive car, but the 991.1 C2 is a wonderful interpretation that gives me that smile factor with all the modern creature comforts!

These were from the dealer site; it is almost exactly what I wanted... a base MT with leather, Bose and a sunroof. I added PSE before pick-up and brought it home just before the snow hit. It is hibernating until spring!

I've heard a few say the 991.2 Carrera base feels better to drive than the C2S because it has less lag below 3000 due to the smaller turbos. It's also lighter. The C2S is possibly a bit over tired and over braked for use as an occasional weekend car or regular daily driver.

Here is a shot of my 2014 C2 at NJMP surrounded by some pricier hardware. Fits in fine IMHO.

I have to say, that while option choices are always personal, after viewing many cars here in white, if I choose that colour for my C2 (or C4), I think I'll skip the glass roof (which in keeping with this thread will make it a more "base" car). If I go with GT Silver, I may add the glass roof. I just think the black glass on white looks like a reverse skunk line on the car. I know others like it though, w=especially with the black wheels.

New member here, been lurking from late 2015 & through 2016 while specc'd & ordered the car. Here's my Night Blue Metallic/Saddle Brown interior 911 I've had from new from March 2016, currently has 7.5k miles on it:

Here is my base C2, picked up today. I'm over the moon with it! It's all about the Base! (sorry, the same pics I posted on the waiting room but they are the only pics I have!)

That mahogany/beige combination is great. I see too many cars with beige that, IMHO, don't really work. Yours does. While I bought a CPO S, I drove many base models. ALL ARE GREAT. I think, for the 991.1, the base is best with MT, the S with PDK. Again, just my humble opinion.

Seeing all the Carrera S wheels make me (with my Carrera Classics) envious! I like the look of the S wheels much better, but I guess I traded off for lower miles. PSE has been a positive surprise, too.

@CamsPorsche: Nice pic, what model Thule? I'm thinking of doing the same for long trips with kids.

So does PSE give you quad tips?

Oh that ducktail is spectacular!
Does the .2 not have that option? It looks really small on the configurator.
