I have never seen the CPO sales broken out by vehicle. Gotta believe Macan CPO's are driving a lot of that uptick as well.
That is correct. They've started hitting the pre-owned market. Although, the 991 pre-owned sales market has tightened as well which is part of that figure.
After seeking a pre-owned 991.1 for myself and not wanting to spend over $100K, it was a no brainer when seeing the savings.

PCNA 911 sales for 2015 were less than 2014. No "run up" of last ditch buyers to buy last of the NA's.
Your statistics are no doubt correct, but your statistical analysis may be flawed. Because of the fact that 911 sales are always a decaying number every year after a new model is released until the next new model is released, there could have been a "run up" of buyers for the last of the NAs that caused sales of 15 over 14 to be "less down" than it would have naturally been. A reduction of the natural fall-off in sales is still a "run up".

When looking at some data on Left-Lane.com the overall figures are a bit better. I think most of the factors discussed in the thread are part of the issue, at which level each one plays a role is very hard to say. The 'sports car' data posted, above by STG, shows many of the competitors to the Porsche's 911 series also are seeing a sales decline this year.

After some more data mining, I found the numbers for my home market.
YTD the 911 sales are up 12.78% for the first 10 months of 2016 in Canada. But the market up here is about 10% the size of the US market. The raw numbers where 759 Units for the first 10 Months in 2015, and 856 Units for the same time frame this year.
Up here a lot of Millennials are doing the Mercedes/Smart Car Car2Go short-term rental car thing, it has become very popular in Calgary. The last time I saw any numbers they had hundreds of cars in Calgary alone. You see the darn little White/Blue things everywhere.
