Well, if we're going to put so much effort into being pedantic, I want to argue with someone about the distinction separating "backfire" from "afterburn". Any takers?

We are all Porsche fans here. Even if we don't agree....have a good one. I'm done with this topic.
You only dropped it yesterday as long as you had the last word. Then when I replied today, you suddenly undropped it in order to tell me you had dropped it and to come back in for the last word again! So now I'm officially dropping it, end of topic! See, I'm the bigger man!

Good chance. Sounds like someone who needed more hugs as a kid.

12 pages, and 3 topics deep. For those of you just joining us, here's a thread-summary:

Topic #1: Can you program out pops and gurgles?
A: Apparently not. You can use the manettino switch to choose a mode with reduced popping and gurgling, though.

Topic #2: Which modes are best, for pop/gurgle-haters with 991.2s?
A: Normal and Sport Plus have fewer pops/gurgles. Sport has the most. Perhaps you can gin up an Individual setting.

Topic #3: "Plausible"-gate.
A: Happy holidays!

Does not sound, uh, plausible.

For what it's worth this happens on the gt4 as well. The issue I have with them is they didn't bother programming any randomness into them. I forget the exact pattern, but every time you lift off you get 'gurgle pop pop pop gurgle'. Once the pattern is burned into your subconscious you almost cringe on lift off as it goes through the 'g p p p g' routine again. I had a w204 c63 and they nailed it on that as it was seemingly random, so therefore felt less artificial and become something you could enjoy.

Would be curious to know if anyway successfully tuned these out via Cobb or other means.

The programming on my 991 C2S is completely random and depends on how hard you are on it, or not on it.

It's only the same under identical or near identical conditions. Anyone can moderate the popping sounds by how the car is driven. If you want the maximum popping, hard acceleration and abruptly taking your foot off the gas pedal will do the trick. Accelerate moderately and the popping sounds will be lessened. Moreover, as has been stated earlier, popping is diminished if sports mode is not selected.

Again, my popping is random. There is no pattern. Even during similar driving styles.
