I'm just saying, The 2000 Carrera Cab I just got rid of a few months back had a heavy fine leather smell in the car. As did my Cayenne S and every other 911 I ever had. I seriously think they have somehow treated the leather to no longer have any scent? My 991 has the new car smell but its not leather smell even with the car closed up for days. To be honest I kinda miss it but I know its not a big deal.

To my (admittedly not very refined) schnozz, it smells pretty close to the real thing. But I don't use it in my 911. Use it in my Wrangler, which doesn't have so much as a square millimeter of leather as far as I know.

no new 911 today , even fully loaded with every leather option smells anywhere as heady and " British banker's club leathery " as any " full leather " optioned new 911 I bought in the past through the late 80s , when certain " toxic " tanning products/processes/interior fume outgasses deemed carcinogenic to people and damaging to the environment were gradually changed going forward over the following decade

I've test smelled many bottled leather scents and the products , imo , all end up smelling like " full chemistry lab " after a couple days in the sun with a " plasticky " outgas aroma prob as unhealthy as what they prev removed

I would be very happy with no aromas. There are a lot of carcinogenic chemicals comprising the bouquet of a new car smell, including the leather scents. Acrylates, volatile plasticizers, etc. are rough on the lungs and brain.

I just got the Zaino and it's really good, like others have mentioned it smells like a baseball glove!
I like the Meguiars leather conditioner scent, very light and generally goes away the next day.

Actually, I disagree. My car has the fully optioned natural leather option (I know, people on this form call me cow killer), and people still comment on the smell of leather. I'm guessing this is because of the different way they prepare the natural leather compared to the standard leather.

natural ( semi aniline ) leathers are , I believe , not sprayed with a top coat of spill protective " plastic " as all other car interior leathers are today , so this type of leather breaths ( so exudes more aroma ) and has a better feel , BUT ....one therefore has to be very careful of coffee , etc food spills and they may fade faster so may not be best choice for cabriolets intended to be driven mostly top down in temperate higher sun southern / SW areas like San Diego , LA etc

just drop a spoonful of plain water on the surface ...it will bead up on most modern auto leather but will soak in on semi aniline leather ....manufacturers figure the owner of the latter can afford to have the leather stained by coffee to be redyed , not so the pissed off mass mkt car owner who Big Gulps / Value Meals daily !

Europe has standards for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).
I don't like ordors and particularly the smell of adhesives in glued together Corvettes.
Actually gives me a headache.
I have Porsches with full and partial leather and they are odor free and I like that.
I don't have natural leather but if a heavy smell than I wouldn't order it.
