Default 8 Speed PDK Likely?

Just wondering if anyone thinks the 911.2 will see a change to an 8 speed PDK now that the new Panamera has one? Is the transmission in the current Panamera the same as the 7 speed PDK in the 911s?

Does the 911 need any more gears?? Has one too many already. They'd be insane to add one more.

I kind of agree, but given that Porsche went to turbocharging to fuel economy (and performance) I was wondering whether this is the next step?

Who knows. I'm not a future buyer. Too early to know. We'll see down the line.

I don't think they would spend the time and money to change anything that substantial for the rest of this cycle. You may see that with the new 911 due out around 2019 (+/- 1 year?).... that is just my opinion and speculation, of course..

Correct!

I thought he was talking about the next generation 992 or whatever.

Won't happen with the 991.2

Maybe they should get rid of the engine and replace it with an electric motor or steam power.

Too many already? 7 speeds is great. 6 speed box with an extra gear for highway cruising.
