Where do you get the filters? the Mobil-1 oil is cheap, but my local dealer now charges $40 for filter, o-ring and crush washer!

I give everyone on the forum that can do their own oil changes, etc. credit. I learned a long time ago with my first 911 (it was a 1971 911T) that all I had to do was make one small mistake and the costs and inconvenience factor went up geometrically.
If you get pleasure out of working on your car, that's great. At this point I'm just glad I can drive the s--- out of my 991 and have my local Porsche specialty shop service the car when needed.

I bought two of those 5qt jugs from Walmart, so I included both in my cost. Filter and rings were $40.

As long as I'm under $100 for the whole thing I'm happy.

Here's a good filter source. I change mine every 5K miles so I buy 6 at a time or so.

Paid $361 for oil change last week at the dealer. Planned for that.

Thanks for posting the tips on oil fill and filter replacement. You guys are great.

Tried out my 'poor man's lift' today. Total access to underside of motor. In 3-ish thousand miles I'll be attempting.

Pelican parts.com is another dirt cheap source for filter/crush washer/ gasket. Great service.

Do you know if this kit comes with the lube that Porsche specifies to use on the o-ring?

I have always used just a bit of the oil on the o-ring. Is there really special o-ring lube?

I have been changing oil filters for a long time. Forget the "O" ring lube and use some clean fresh motor oil. Works perfectly.

Either clean engine oil, or vasoline. If you really want to get fancy you could get some Parler-O-Lube in the black and yellow tube.

The answer is no. Besides, it's grease not lube and I would follow Porsche recommendation. There's always the right way of doing things and your way.

CSK 911 C4S...WoW!!! Thats one cool custom setup!!! Is the door behind car used for access to get under car? If so, that's super clever!!!
