Default PSE owners - bypass valves can fail

I have a 2013 C2S with PSE. I noticed that the exhaust was not noticeably louder with the bypass valves opened. I took it to the dealer and sure enough one of the valves had failed. They replace both for good measure and now I'm back to the glorious wail - the way PSE is supposed to sound.

Just a heads up to PSE owners. These valves can fail frequently according to my dealer.

I'm guessing it was the vacuum actuator rather than the valve that failed. The valves are welded into the exhaust and would require some time and skill to replace whereas the actuator is bolt on and connect the vacuum hoses

Were you still hearing the induction noise prior to taking the car in? Was it the exhaust that wasn't as loud or the induction noise?

Had the same thing on my C4S. Believe it was a COV. Easy fix. These COV's are constantly failing. I believe they were also responsible for lack of heat for some folks.

Yes, I think they changed the vacuum actuator. What's a COV?

Did the 997 or 996 have COVs, or is this new with the 991?

TIA

+1

COV's (change over valves) or solenoids have been noted many times on the forum and have frequently failed.

I have an early 991, a 2012.5 C2S, manufactured in January 2012. It had 7 change over valves -none of which had failed- replaced in a factory campaign about 6 months after I got the car.

The reason I was told, was a manufacturing deficiency in the part. Haven't had a problem with any of them since. Based on the periodic posts, I suppose that on some statistical bases, this happens.
